Pros

Steady Schedule. Monday through Friday and major holidays off. Hours range from 7am-6pm. The people are great. Fellow employees work well together and are down to earth. A great coverage plan if one is absent.

Cons

Must also answer overflow customer service calls while also attending to your sales rep's customers and account concerns.

Pros

Despite their approach to handling their sales force i made a lot of money with them.

Cons

When i first started with this company in the late 70s it was the finest best orginized company i had ever worked for. the sales management was tops many salesmen were making $75,000 to $100,000 per year. This was in the 70s so think what that would be in income now! Suddenly everything changed and went crazy! People who had never sold a thing were put in charge of salespeople with a Gestapo attitude towards them. If you figured out their system and started making good money then the management became jealous because you were making more money than they were. Then they were constantly trying to do territory splits to drop your income! When I first started with this company salespeople were treated with utmost respect and if you were a big hitter they could not do enough for you! Why because the owners respected money makers as if you were making it they were really making it! After 40 years from being gone from this company i am amazed they are still operating this way!!

Pros

The newer office location in Woodridge is convenient for many but not all. Don used to be in North Riverside, which was more convenient for many of us.

Cons

Benefits at Don are horrible. Personal&sick time. 5 days no rollover. 2 less than average. Holidays. 1 less than most others. Vacation. 2 weeks up to 4 depending on years with company no rollover. Employees who have been with the company a few decades are on the old plan which gives 2 additional weeks. 401k is the ultimate insult. They were so proud to announce in 2012 that they would contribute up to $750 a year from the $500 they had been. What a joke, that's less than 2% on a 38K salary, less if your fortunate to make more. They even charge you separately for vision care, short term disability and like. Training or personal development? If you want these you're to forward thinking for Don. The personal experience varies from mildly depressing to god awful. Warehouse is they only decent area because many have common sense and its union with some better benefits. Customer service is worse than being dead period. Sales is a hit or miss depending on things. Management promises sales trainees a promotional path they won't keep. Like if you do good enough you'll be promoted from trainee in 6 months. Only way it actually happens is when another sales person eventually quits or is fired and your stupid enough to still be there. They expect most to leave and play them until they get fed up and leave. Depression is the rule at Don. It gets worse each year. At Don your not an asset your an associate.
