Pros

Portsmouth Apartments are beautiful. Owned by Edward Rose and Sons.

Cons

Portsmouth Apartments, The pay is very low. but management demads employees work non-stop. the maintenance staff does no't get breaks, even though they work from 8am to 5pm. The turnover supervisor is extremely rude to almost everyone and the management team is extremely poor, and racist to the 10th power. They employ one token black that works there full time, and another that works there during the winter. Of which, I am surprised the full timer still works there cause they treat that person poorly.

We appreciate your comment about the Portsmouth Apartments being beautiful, and we agree! We take great pride in our communities and strive to provide a pleasant environment for both our residents and our employees. We offer our employees a competitive wage and benefit package, a meal break of a minimum of one-half hour, and our employees enjoy a good deal of freedom during their workday to use bathroom facilities or grab a beverage or snack. We take pride in the fact that we have a very diverse team made up of professional individuals from many races and cultures. We do not hire individuals based on their race at any particular location, and we certainly do not condone any mistreatment of any employee, regardless of their race. We encourage our staff to report any inappropriate conduct, whether it be from coworkers, residents or guests to our properties. Even though you are no longer employed with us, we welcome the opportunity to speak with you about your concerns and allow us to investigate your allegations. Please contact the Human Resources Department at 248/686-5500.

Lack of good leadership

Pros

very good discounts on apartments, flexible schedule, decent freedom

Cons

Lack of leadership and company management could be greatly improved. For all of the micro managing they do things still never get done. orders take for ever to get approved, contractors do not get paid, poor turnover rate for employees and residents. the culture of this company sucks big time as well.

We are happy that you enjoy the many benefits offered to our employees, including the discounted rents and flexibility. We value our relationships with our residents, employees and contractor alike. We are sorry to hear, however, that you believe the culture of the company is not what you would like it to be. If you have specific constructive criticism, we welcome the opportunity to hear your suggestions. Please feel free to reach out to your Property Manager or the General Manager of Property Operations, or for HR related matters, the Human Resources Manager.

Pros

Flexible schedule, Downtime in between calls, Discount on rent/cable/internet services if you live at a company owned location. Call center is not 24 hours. No sales quota. Good for college students who need a way to pay bills.

Cons

The company culture here is horrendous. Management in any department and at every level fail to be effective leaders. The call center is located in the corporate office yet don't expect to be considered corporate employees. There are no written performance reports, or a detailed job description. Progressive ideas to improve service or employee relations fall on deaf and incapable ears. No human resource department so if you have a complaint about your superiors, you are expected to report them to your superiors (you can guess how that will play out). You will be expected to do work outside of your job title and when you request a promotion or raise, they will not discuss an amount until you have been in the role for 6 months to a year. Managements little experience leading people results in a exclusion feel rather than inclusion when it comes to company involvement.
