Pros
- Great sales pipeline (although this is a huge con for some people, see below). Lots of big clients with exciting implications. - Benefits and pay are quite good. - Hiring like crazy (also see below implications)
Cons
- Sales volume is RAPIDLY outpacing what we have the capacity to actually support and implement. Looks super great if you are in sales/marketing, but it is brutal if you are in product, support, engineering, or services. Most if not all of these teams are at a breaking point and in full crunch 100% of the time. We are short staffed in a big way in the roles I mentioned above. If you want to join, awesome. But we never should have gotten to this point. PS and product hiring should have kept pace with sales/marketing growth. Leadership says they are doing everything they can to hire, but it is not enough to solve the issues present right now. - Lack of process makes it difficult to know who to go to for issues or to learn about something. If you ask a question in a channel that is too big, get ready to be talked down to for not knowing about some obscure, undocumented behavior that is only written about in the code base (which most people have no access to) - Lots of need to circumvent some of the few formal processes because they are ineffective, leading to lots of things being done as favors. These are rarely scoped and sometimes balloon in effort required, taking up way too much time. Also, there is no recognition for this work and it doesn't demonstrate value to leadership. You are better off keeping your head down and pretending you know nothing to protect yourself. - Just to reiterate, DOCUMENTATION. The amount of unfinished, unhelpful, and inadequate information in our supposed "master list" of product details makes it very, very difficult to properly understand/implement/use many product segments. In terms of customer facing documentation, there is again very little, leading to tons of confusion that the support, PS teams, and CS teams have to handle.
