      Avoid the Commercial Org

      Pros

      They really prioritize work life balance. Made Fridays no-meeting days and gave a lot of PTO around COVID. Prioritized diversity equity and inclusion throughout the company.

      Cons

      Unfortunately, the organization I am in is a super toxic, corporate, old boys club. The Commercial Org doesn't have a great reputation within EA, which makes it really hard to get anything done. As a result, there's pretty nasty internal politics within the org because everyone feels undervalued and not respected within the broader company.

      Pros

      - I'd never leave if it was just about company culture. The vast majority of people I've worked with over the years at EA have been great. - Work/life balance has been pretty solid for me. Occasional crunch, but never terrible. - Managers are typically very understanding individuals that allow for decent amount of flexibility, particularly throughout Covid lockdowns.

      Cons

      - Lack of a consistent vision from leadership on projects and various aspects of the company. - Egos. Plenty of senior people who refuse to leave politics at the door.

      Pros

      Job security I guess. There are plenty of opportunities for transfer internally.

      Cons

      It's a huge corporate machine. All the pointless self assessments and townhall meetings etc. doesn't help make any game better. The bonus system is weak and doesn't encourage anyone to try to make the game they work on better, since it won't matter.
