Pros

I think your experience at EA will really depend on your department. I was lucky enough to be in a relatively laid back department (Pogo) with awesome co-workers, but I get the sense that wasn't the same elsewhere on campus. Everyone on my team worked hard but left at a normal time.

Cons

People did their work, but no one seemed to be especially passionate about what they were doing. Again, maybe this was because of our department - our product was not one of EA's big blockbusters.

Pros

Work on fun products with world class brands like Star Wars, FIFA, and the NFL. Company is headed in the right direction with an emphasis on mobile and digital.

Cons

Difficult to move up, especially on teams that are very flat. Company can feel siloed at times between times. Employees move up by snatching responsibility, so others can be hesitant to collaborate.

Pros

For many the gaming industry is a labor of love, fed by passion for art and technology. EA has stood above most others over history as a safe harbor for people who really care; to mentor and build on the opportunity for experience at the highest level of game development, marketing, and operations. EA largely stands on its own for building the largest distribution and manufacturing capacity to support a global business. Thanks to a successful foundation there are far more opportunities within the organization to benefit people of all backgrounds and skillsets.

Cons

As with any company dealing with explosive growth in a fledgling industry EA's culture has waned over the years. With size of employee base comes dilution and misunderstanding in what made the place great to work at in the first place. Hiring practices often put great people in the wrong places, and an inability to accept or identify the systemic management issues allow them to burn through teams and the company without any real support. I would argue EA has lost far more "great people", than it has retained due to this blind spot. When you break down the numbers it's millions of hard dollar costs in recruiting, relocation, onboarding, and benefits wasted on poor people leadership and vision. Not too mention the impact on their development teams to continuingly be caught in the cycle of hiring, instead of creating great games.
