Pros

If your only goal is to jump in the deep end of CSR to gain as much knowledge as possible and not be valued as an employee, you'll be at home here. There is a decent flexible work schedule if your manager agrees to it, which is not common.

Cons

This company is rabidly chasing revenues at the expense of their employees. Leadership encourages a "jump in and get the job done, whatever it is" mentality, encouraging employees to devote their lives to the company and its potential, but very few employees actually enjoy any fruits of their work. Compensation is bad, promotions come very rarely, and salaries do not increase with added responsibility. The best performing staff don't even get raises that keep up with inflation. Over half of the Oakland staff have left in the past year and yet nothing has changed--nothing, except that we've now had an employee survey in which employees outlined what steps the company should take to increase morale and retain staff. The CEO downplays the results of the survey as if staff don't know what they wrote and instead he forms a "culture club" with himself as the chair. He then squashes the narrative and directs staff away from the survey results and actual issues at hand. Senior sales staff receive commissions but the people that actually complete the work do not. This results in very demanding workloads for most staff, and sloppy communication from the sales staff who only care to get more business despite lack of capacity. The CEO has long told staff that leadership is focusing on staff development. It's an absolute lie because nothing has been done in this regard ... the truth is revenue is king and there's no time for staff development. Multiple staff have been fired without any apparent cause. Management is very opaque about these firings and tries to appease staff with apparent lies about the situation. All while quality of work is degrading as workloads increase. This is a company that claims to be "on the right side of history" in the world of worker well-being and social compliance. That's a lie. Find a better place to work.

The first response is ouch. This is challenging to read but you got our attention. While we heard lots of positive feedback during our employee survey in April 2018, we also learned ways in which we can improve. As you might remember we also heard about emerging core values that resonate with our people. As a result, we’re making genuine progress in the areas of company values, culture, internal communications, and in staff development too in addition to operational excellence. We’re also undertaking a formal review of our salaries and benefits with external assistance from people who know our industry to see where gaps might exist. This is important to our people and it’s important to us. We will admit that positive change doesn’t happen overnight but we’ve made a good start. We’re listening.

Terrible company to work for

Pros

No pros what so ever

Cons

The upper management does not care about employee wellbeing, compensation is always below the market rates and terrible working hours. VP level executives regularly shout at employees, treat them with disrespect. This is so ironic because this company believes it is working to improve workers' rights but does not treat their own employees well. Their vacation policy and sick leave policy is terrible and remote working options are extended to upper management but not too all employees.

We didn’t think we were that bad. If someone is yelling, that’s not right. That’s why we have a grievance line if someone is not living up to our values. We hear you about compensation. We’re doing a review because we need to be competitive, and formal reviews are necessary to ensure we are on par with the market. Thanks for your review. It’s important that we walk the talk.

Pros

When you tell other people about your work, they think it's interesting, even if you do the same task over and over again every day.

Cons

Too many to count. Be prepared to make financial sacrifices - they might allude to the idea of salary adjustments, it likely will never happen and if it does, you won't have any say in the amount or percentage. The salary increases don't even cover the cost of inflation. Benefits and leave time are below the standard. Senior management does not regularly communicate with employees, when they do, it lacks professionalism and usually isn't very informative. The HR personnel truly struggle to communicate in English. It may be due to cultural differences, they usually come across as rude and the emails are not clear. They take weeks, sometimes months to acknowledge e-mails. There are no transparent processes around promotion, wages or benefits. Depending on who you work for, you may be subject to nasty messages on Skype.
