Pros
Absorb is a highly engaged company with a very communal feel. In the first three months I've been here I've noticed that the organization had a tumultuous 2020 year due to COVID (as all companies did with remote work and clientele that rely on in-person services being affected). I've been really impressed with how the staff and leadership have pulled together to keep the work engaging, rewarding, and most importantly, manageable. There has been a significant focus on the scalability of their massive growth, and the Client Success group appears to all be pulling in the same direction. Once the group is able to get into the (fancy new) Telus Sky tower in Calgary, I suspect the community feel, and "start up" environment of this company will really shine through! I came to Absorb to join a Calgary-based tech startup business with a "software first" mentality, that offered me a lot of agency in helping direct the business and it's future state. Thankfully, this is exactly what I've found.
Cons
Because of how fast the company is growing, there is a notable gap in communication between the technology teams and the business teams. This has been acknowledged by the business and I'm seeing massive strides in breaking down this communication struggle. In my experience, this is a normal problem that requires focus at this stage of growth for a S.A.A.S and I'm excited to see where it goes.
