Pros
Honestly, the fact that you're surrounded by video games rarely came into play. Only in the rarest of moments did you actually get to enjoy the video games, so the real perk to working at GameStop were the friendships formed with your fellow employees.
Cons
Beyond that though, this is not a place I recommend a young person aim to have a career at. As an employee at GameStop, you are pitted against your fellow employees to fight for hours. This is done by rewarding the employee with the best sales numbers with more hours. This explains why anytime you walk into a GameStop, the employees jump down your throat and try and get you to sign up for the subscription magazine, or to pre-order games, as those are the main focus. Its a retail job, so expect to work nights, weekends, and infrequent hours all at once. Holidays are a nightmare, and just generally, working retail is a miserable experience. It's not GameStop exclusively, but as an entertainment dispenser, its especially true for them.
