Pros

My time there I really learned the art and appreciation for dealing with my former associates who had various forms of both physical and mental barriers. My ability to keep a cool head in all adversities I faced contributed to the awesome repour I was able to have with all of my associates, even the contentious ones

Cons

The downside of being Operations Manager for Goodwill in my experience was from the beginning there was no real proper structure as to what was required of me and how to access what was needed. There was NO SOPs, there was NO Emergency Contacts list for the associates, there was NO clear indication on how to do one on ones, or even clear guidance on firing people. No one wanted to take accountability for where they may have messed up, but are quick to point blame. From day one, I learned and realized my what was to be second to me, was truly the one who turned around the structure of that place for the better. My former boss did not ever speak up for me when the perception of what I was doing was off. He wanted to place these responsiblities on me with no instruction on HOW to help me to be successful, Tasking me to do financials when I don't even have full access for reports. A lot of what he was expecting from me wasn't given to me until my last two weeks there. Granted he did take a chance on me with the knowledge my experience was supervisory at best coming from the military...he said time and time again I will mold and mentor you on how to become that Operations Manager. The pay and massive responsibilities did not match.

Pros

There is not a single "pro" to be listed.

Cons

The entire corporate office is beyond ignorant. Completely out of touch with reality, price gouging customers trying to raise profit margins for the non profit. Everyday at any second one call from corporate and there is a change to how everything has to be done, usually causing more issues only to blame people who had nothing to do with their ideas. They don't let the store manager be a store manager.. in fact, I'll sum up everything you need to know in one sentence.. they went as far as to install systems to remotely control the thermostat from their comfy corporate office. Imagine not just the employees but the customers constantly complaining. That is how out of touch with reality they all are.
