Pros
I love Michaels as a store. I love the products they sell and the coupons that give out. I love Michaels as a customer. I like to think our store has great customer service.
Cons
One floral lady, the manager wont either hire someone else or teach sales associates how to make arrangements. This may be just for the current state I am in but the minimum wage pay that we get should be cut. With how much work Michaels employees do on a daily basis its seems like we are under paid. I say that for anyone working in retail also. I can honestly say I love Michaels but I have days where I am like "I really not up for it today". 15 minute breaks, no kind of metal detectors for thieves and all we can do is just stand there, and no help for the elderly employees. A woman I work with should've been able to retire at this point in her life but she isn't even making $12/hr. "promotions" are pretty much non existent. You get a (this is an estimate) 18 cent increase in pay every year. Other associates can say good job on a board and there is Employee of the month. Time off, you get one week I think a year or every few months. The managers always do theirs around the same time, so back to back they take there vacations. No full-time sales or cashiers. Half of the managerial staff is great, the others you have to be weary of what you say and do. "We want fun and creative staff" and then you have a non fun manager who sometimes makes it hard to come to work. Again, I love Michaels just these few things that bother me. It could just be the one I am working at though...or the cities stores in general.
