Great products and people, but low trust management - Software Engineer ReliaQuest Employee Review

Pros

Unlimited use of AI for now. Company is leading the way both in its products and in its development process. Really fun space to be in right now. The people I work with every day are great, genuinely world class employees, love coming to work and meeting everyone and learning from everyone. Constantly focused on product feature development, no spinning wheels rewriting stuff in the latest framework of the month and the like. Pay and benefits are good. Mid level managers are kind reasonable people.

Cons

Very low trust working environment. A lot of senior management are from military style backgrounds and treat employees like enlisted personnel on tour as opposed to adults with lives and families. Often you get the sense here that they really despise the people working for them. On the RTO front, I actually prefer working in an office to working from home and am generally happy to come in 5 days a week to meet people in person. But here everything down to your bathroom breaks are tracked through badge swipes (yes they produce regular reports on this). Forget about working here if you have a family. Most common reason for employees being fired is basic family duty stuff like having to drop the kids off to school before work (the in at 8am rule is harshly enforced) You're expected to be on call at weekends with no time back compensation. And on call means actively responding to and triaging tickets for the day, not just on standby. By the way, you can spot the fake 5* reviews here as they use the term the company has for us: "teammates" throughout the review.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We really appreciate your comments about the products, the people you work with, and the managers who have had a positive impact on your experience. The concerns you raised around trust, flexibility, and support for employees balancing work and family responsibilities are not aligned with the environment we aim to create. Please reach out to feedback@reliaquest.com if you are willing to share more.

Pros

ReliaQuest has been a phenomenal place to work. One of the biggest things that stands out is how much the company invests in people who are willing to grow. It’s rare to find a company that promotes Business Development Representatives within 10–12 months, but here, hard work and development truly get recognized. If you’re willing to make yourself uncomfortable, apply feedback, stay adaptable, help others, and keep the right mindset, it will pay off. Management sees that effort and rewards it. It’s definitely not an easy job, but nothing great comes easy. What I’ve learned here in about a year is honestly what I believe would have taken me 3–5 years to learn somewhere else. ReliaQuest sees high-potential employees and genuinely wants to invest in them.

Cons

The role can be challenging and fast-paced, so it requires a lot of adaptability and resilience. It’s not an easy environment, but that also creates strong growth opportunities. It's also because of the industry in general!

Pros

My time at ReliaQuest has been life-changing. From the moment you join, the company invests in your growth and development, helping you evolve into a high-performing professional and leader. Since joining RQ, I’ve felt consistently challenged in the best way, while also being fully supported in everything I set out to accomplish. One of the things that makes RQ so unique is the level of support available to help us grow, both personally and professionally. We have two full-time mental performance coaches who are always there to help us navigate challenges and overcome obstacles. They’ve also built a Leadership Foundations program for emerging leaders. After six months at RQ, once you’ve completed a mindset badge and demonstrated excellence in your role, you become eligible to join the program. It’s an incredible opportunity to accelerate your career and learn the fundamentals of what it means to be a strong leader for your team. What stands out most to me, though, is the people. Everyone here is high-performing and pushes you to be the best version of yourself while striving to get 1% better every day. As a company, we truly live out our values—being accountable, helpful, adaptable, and focused—and I believe the people here embody those values every day.

Cons

While the challenge of cybersecurity is what drew me to RQ and this industry, it can also be one of the more difficult aspects at times. To be a leader in AI-driven cybersecurity, you have to constantly adapt to the evolving needs of the market. With that comes change, both within the company and in the work itself, and success requires embracing those challenges rather than resisting them. It isn’t always easy, but with the people around you and the mission you’re working toward, no change or challenge feels impossible.
