Pros

- Work in multiple SIEM environments (Though this is apt to change soon) - Competative pay - Benefits are good - Outings

Cons

There are multiple issues this company is currently facing on the inside, but let us speak on one that is a pull for fresh-out-of-college employees. Training. The ReliaQuest website does a great job of showing that the company valuese employees intelligence and will continuously push to train and educate employees. This is just not true. The month-long training consists of a week of "culture" training, which feels like a brain-wash session. Do they really think they can change a person's entire work ethic and morallity in a week of training? They will try. Now, the most aggrevating thing is the tech training that occurs, well doesn't occur, after this culture session. The training itself is the most basic possible and boils down to moving around in the SIEM. If you expect to learn high-level search techniques and tactics, this is not going to happen. The system used for training is commonly broken and there is little understanding from the instructors what the correct answer should look like. Most of the time you are struggling to understand if what you did was correct or not. The "attacks" you are monitoring and completely bogus and no effort is made to make the scenario realistic. I believe they have a script generating random traffic and attacks that is constantly being noisier than any real attacker would. The instructors themselves will continuously ask you to "Google" to find the answers to questions, and I believe this is because most do not know the answers, especially the ones that conducted the culture training. I could speak on multiple issues, but this one aggrevates me the most, since I took this job on the good faith that I would consistantly learn new techniques for analysis. Just know if you take the job, the training system is a complete joke.

Pros

ReliaQuest has been a phenomenal place to work. One of the biggest things that stands out is how much the company invests in people who are willing to grow. It’s rare to find a company that promotes Business Development Representatives within 10–12 months, but here, hard work and development truly get recognized. If you’re willing to make yourself uncomfortable, apply feedback, stay adaptable, help others, and keep the right mindset, it will pay off. Management sees that effort and rewards it. It’s definitely not an easy job, but nothing great comes easy. What I’ve learned here in about a year is honestly what I believe would have taken me 3–5 years to learn somewhere else. ReliaQuest sees high-potential employees and genuinely wants to invest in them.

Cons

The role can be challenging and fast-paced, so it requires a lot of adaptability and resilience. It’s not an easy environment, but that also creates strong growth opportunities. It's also because of the industry in general!

Pros

My time at ReliaQuest has been life-changing. From the moment you join, the company invests in your growth and development, helping you evolve into a high-performing professional and leader. Since joining RQ, I’ve felt consistently challenged in the best way, while also being fully supported in everything I set out to accomplish. One of the things that makes RQ so unique is the level of support available to help us grow, both personally and professionally. We have two full-time mental performance coaches who are always there to help us navigate challenges and overcome obstacles. They’ve also built a Leadership Foundations program for emerging leaders. After six months at RQ, once you’ve completed a mindset badge and demonstrated excellence in your role, you become eligible to join the program. It’s an incredible opportunity to accelerate your career and learn the fundamentals of what it means to be a strong leader for your team. What stands out most to me, though, is the people. Everyone here is high-performing and pushes you to be the best version of yourself while striving to get 1% better every day. As a company, we truly live out our values—being accountable, helpful, adaptable, and focused—and I believe the people here embody those values every day.

Cons

While the challenge of cybersecurity is what drew me to RQ and this industry, it can also be one of the more difficult aspects at times. To be a leader in AI-driven cybersecurity, you have to constantly adapt to the evolving needs of the market. With that comes change, both within the company and in the work itself, and success requires embracing those challenges rather than resisting them. It isn’t always easy, but with the people around you and the mission you’re working toward, no change or challenge feels impossible.
