Pros

Cyber Security in 2025 and beyond isn't easy. This industry moves like wildfire. Working at ReliaQuest can be stressful, but it comes with making a real-world difference. We tackle big problems. For those that are sincere in wanting to make the world a better & safer place, this company will feel like home. We are aggressive in our ideas, and swing for the fences. I love that about RQ. But here are some of the basics that you'll want to hear about: · We treat each-other with respect and professionalism, this sounds like a weird baseline, but having worked at places that don't, I'm grateful that we have that here. · Leadership knows the industry and typically keeps us ahead of trends, and economic forces. · We're fiscally responsible and poised for IPO. · We have a phenomenal "Mental Performance" team that sets the tone for the organization. They offer a wealth of mindset conditioning and training that we can take advantage of to accelerate our personal growth and bring our best to work. · We promote frequently from within. Recognition flows through many paths. · We have outstanding people. Talented and earnest people are everywhere. You can typically trust any employee to be someone "at the top of their game". · Our customers are awesome. SOC people are usually reasonable and act as partners in keeping their organizations safe. I interface with a lot of customers and it is typically a real pleasure and benefit in my role. · We have permission to fail. Our tolerance for failure is healthy. A value of ours is that "it's not about the fault, it's about the fix". This gives us space to move faster, experiment, and to push into the unknown.

Cons

· We are governed by Cyber and Sales forces. This means that we can be clumsy in our approach to building software. We announce things before they're built, we launch everything as fast as possible, and we constantly are trying to catch-up to exceptionally high standards and short timelines that we, ourselves, set. This might sell tickets, but it doesn't win games. · Many decisions are made in a vacuum, behind closed doors, and without explanation. Decisiveness is great, but we don't consistently demonstrate accountability or transparency, at all levels. · There are a lot of politics that disrupt progress. Knowing and navigating the subtle but established power structure is a skill everyone must develop to make an impact.

Pros

ReliaQuest has been a phenomenal place to work. One of the biggest things that stands out is how much the company invests in people who are willing to grow. It’s rare to find a company that promotes Business Development Representatives within 10–12 months, but here, hard work and development truly get recognized. If you’re willing to make yourself uncomfortable, apply feedback, stay adaptable, help others, and keep the right mindset, it will pay off. Management sees that effort and rewards it. It’s definitely not an easy job, but nothing great comes easy. What I’ve learned here in about a year is honestly what I believe would have taken me 3–5 years to learn somewhere else. ReliaQuest sees high-potential employees and genuinely wants to invest in them.

Cons

The role can be challenging and fast-paced, so it requires a lot of adaptability and resilience. It’s not an easy environment, but that also creates strong growth opportunities. It's also because of the industry in general!

Pros

My time at ReliaQuest has been life-changing. From the moment you join, the company invests in your growth and development, helping you evolve into a high-performing professional and leader. Since joining RQ, I’ve felt consistently challenged in the best way, while also being fully supported in everything I set out to accomplish. One of the things that makes RQ so unique is the level of support available to help us grow, both personally and professionally. We have two full-time mental performance coaches who are always there to help us navigate challenges and overcome obstacles. They’ve also built a Leadership Foundations program for emerging leaders. After six months at RQ, once you’ve completed a mindset badge and demonstrated excellence in your role, you become eligible to join the program. It’s an incredible opportunity to accelerate your career and learn the fundamentals of what it means to be a strong leader for your team. What stands out most to me, though, is the people. Everyone here is high-performing and pushes you to be the best version of yourself while striving to get 1% better every day. As a company, we truly live out our values—being accountable, helpful, adaptable, and focused—and I believe the people here embody those values every day.

Cons

While the challenge of cybersecurity is what drew me to RQ and this industry, it can also be one of the more difficult aspects at times. To be a leader in AI-driven cybersecurity, you have to constantly adapt to the evolving needs of the market. With that comes change, both within the company and in the work itself, and success requires embracing those challenges rather than resisting them. It isn’t always easy, but with the people around you and the mission you’re working toward, no change or challenge feels impossible.
