1) Low Retention Rates.
They can't keep employees or clients around for very long. Very low percentage of repeat customers and long-term employees because of poor business management and practices.
2) Fake reviews EVERYWHERE .
The positive reviews you see on Glassdoor, Yelp, and any other website are from the owners themselves, friends or family. It is very sad that they even have to do this to counteract the negative reviews, but they do because there are so many negative things to say as a customer and as an employee.
3) Keep your mouth shut.
Working here you have to carefully watch what you say, restrain how you act, and be cagey about what you share. That alone should tell you there is something wrong. People are more creative and innovative when they can be themselves at work, but because you are constantly being monitored and micro-managed you can't - it's like walking on eggshells all of the time. A stuffy, stifling work environment stands in the way of progress. Everybody and the business itself would benefit by being able to be more comfortable in their own skin at work.
4) There is no movement and little interaction.
Being asked by your supervisor where you are, what you are doing all of the time, and having your phone calls monitored is very uncomfortable Sometimes you are even told not to talk to your co-workers. There is no trust. I feel chained to my desk on a daily basis. The owner of the company does not even know to the extent this happens because they are not managing their employees, a relative of his is. Every person in every department here is stressed almost all of the time. They try to incorporate fun into the atmosphere, but it does not outweigh the stress. The management constantly says this is because of 'bad seeds' and that they are ridding of those 'bad-seed employees', but they do not actually look at the turnover rate and look inward that there may be a problem with them and not their employees.
5) Lack of professional management.
They say they added supervisors to each department and this is helping, but that is not the case. There is a 'supervisor' above all that is not even on pay roll that manages every department and has the worst tactics and attitude of anyone there. The supervisors that were put in charge of the departments are not even held to the same expectations the other employees are. They can come and go as they please and it feels unfair to the rest of us.
6) Empty promises.
They have been saying they will be getting benefits for the last 5 years from employees. Don't hold your breath. This is just a gimmick to try to get those that they want employed with them.
7) No formal way of voicing concerns.
There is no ability to voice if you feel there is a problem at work because there is no HR department. The person you are supposed to go to with any issues is related to the owner, is not on payroll, and is very biased. It is better to say nothing at all.
8) Special treatment for relatives.
Good news for those who are related to the owners or are a friend of the family. If you are related or a friend of the family that owns the company you will probably enjoy your job because they get special treatment. Bad for those who are not related.
