Pros

Nice building, opportunities to move to different areas. Family-owned.

Cons

Unfortunately, Simplot has not adapted quickly enough to keep up with current trends. It’s very difficult to succeed as a female if you have opinions. Being nice and not speaking up is encouraged. Women who have strong opinions are very often labeled as difficult. The sales recently did a reorg and appointed all white males to lead (8 men). Females are commonly paid less than their male counterparts. Management does not trust employees to work from home and they have recently taken away the option for hybrid. It is difficult to be a high performer because there is limited accountability for anyone. Most projects move at a snail’s pace and are often not completed. There is very limited vision for the future and long term projects. They mostly work in the now going from one fire to the next.

Pros

HQ building is pretty cool and you can get some neat tours of company facilities. Work life balance is generally pretty good.

Cons

The company just has no idea what its doing regarding IT. Most management has been there 25+ years and still wants to operate like its the 90s. Head of IT is an accountant and the department is treated like a necessary evil and employees are told they provide no tangible value. Making any kind of impact is actively discourage and 'stay in your lane' is a core tenet. If you want to just show up, grind, and go home, this is the place for you.
