Pros

Helping patients, pay, and benefits.

Cons

Please beware! I have experienced the unethical underbelly of TriCore management and their human resources department. I was terminated in retaliation a year ago after being railroaded by management and the clinic that I worked at. I was interrogated police- or Mafia-style, about a discussion I had with the clinic regarding the lack of orders in the computer (they had been throwing the lab under the bus for this for over a year, rather than taking responsibility for it). My answers during the interrogation (under duress, since the interrogation was a form of psychological warfare, indicating that this person is a possible psychopath) were used against me, and also twisted, as well as cherry-picked to lead to my termination. I provided a defense statement of my position to management and to human resources via email, in which I offered to apologize to the clinic person, and get counseling (since I have ongoing issues with depression, anxiety, and PTSD). I was terminated by phone without having the written reasons supplied to me. They obviously only used the twisted evidence supplied during the interrogation, and completely disregarded my written statement. They were both in charge for only a few months, and did not bother to do their due diligence in investigating the whole situation. I filed a complaint about the interrogation, which was terrifying and almost caused me to black out. Some of my answers were shrugged off during the interrogation, and this person made sure to intimidate me as much as possible. I was told by HR that TriCore doesn’t condone this behavior, and would investigate, partly to make sure this didn’t happen to anyone else. However, I was informed by email after my termination that the interrogator was exonerated for the incident because there was a witness in the room. This exoneration indicates, quite clearly, that TriCore values some employees much more than others, and that some are not held to the same behavioral or ethical standards. If I was fired for my so-called “bad behavior” then the interrogator should have also been fired. This happened to me; who knows how many other employees TriCore has retaliated against. It could happen to you. Please think carefully before accepting a position with this company. I still trust TriCore with my laboratory tests, but they behave unethically with some employees, so you would be better off working somewhere else, or working in a different field entirely. In my several years of working at TriCore in various hospital labs I also experienced blackballing (especially when I left and then later returned), and so have other people. HR seems to encourage this behavior, and there appears to be no way to defend one’s honor against defamation of character. TriCore relatively recently instituted a new policy about not being able to record conversations unless approved by management. There is also a new policy stating that employees who move up to supervisor or manager are not required to have a drug test, as previously required. These new policies show a tendency towards authoritarianism and management’s low valuation of frontline employees. Their behaviors need to be brought to light rather than hiding in the dark, in the hopes that there will be improvement in their treatment of employees. TriCore needs an ethics hotline in addition to the existing compliance hotline, so employees can anonymously report breaches of ethics by management.
