As an organization, SHSC is making changes that are designed to better serve the people of South Carolina and those awaiting the life-saving gift of donation. We strive to be open and transparent about our decisions and how they’re meant to improve our ability to save more lives and honor more legacies. As changes to our staffing models occur, we are committed to finding the right people for the right jobs, and that takes time. If you have specific concerns, I invite you to work with us so we can address them together. Our leadership team is a strong, committed and ethical sounding board for our employees. We are committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards. I encourage you to notify us – through communication with me, your supervisor, HR or the Corporate Compliance process – of any activities that are inconsistent with these standards. We Are Sharing Hope SC is a mission-forward organization and our focus never waivers from our donor families, our community partners and our passionate staff. We have an organizational culture that encourages growth and professional development and that is committed to caring for our staff. As a non-profit organization dedicated to organ and tissue donation in South Carolina, it’s important that we are good stewards of the gift of life. This stewardship includes practicing fiscal responsibility and requires that we make sound financial decisions so that we can honor our commitment to our donor families and recipients. This will allow us to continue to serve the people of South Carolina. I understand it can feel as though change isn’t always for the better, but we are making real strides in fulfilling our mission. In 2019, we honored more legacies through organ and tissue donation than ever before. Our teams, including you, served over 400 families in their most difficult moment of loss and will continue to serve them in an aftercare capacity for years to come. Through the generosity of the people of South Carolina, We Are Sharing Hope SC helped facilitate more transplants last year than any time in our organization’s history. This helped save over 500 lives because of our generous donor heroes and our passionate and committed staff.
