Good people + great product + growth opportunity = happy employees
Pros
When you ask around the company about what people like most about their job, the number one answer is generally "the people." There are no jerks and no "lone wolves"- everyone is generally open, collaborative, and focused on team- and company- goals, not just personal goals. There is a strong learning environment- employees are encouraged to learn new skills, seek out mentors, challenge themselves, and the company benefit of paying for training/education helps with this. Employees support each other and are really excited when individuals or teams have "wins." In terms of personal growth, I have changed positions three times during my tenure here, each time taking on a higher level of responsibility and leading areas that I've never lead before. Our CEO really believes in rewarding hard work and in identifying opportunities for employee growth, and many of us have risen in the ranks as our company has enjoyed more and more success. Lastly, I think we're all pretty proud to be working on a platform that fills such a crucial need. Hiring the right people is the best thing you can do to help a company succeed, and we embody that both through our product and through our hiring practices.
Cons
This is not a good environment if you need to be hand-held at every step or micromanaged. People are trusted to get their work done and perform to a certain level without being babied. Also, cash compensation is not generally as high as a big-name company, but the equity, benefits and growth opportunities make up for it.
