The ship is sinking FAST

Pros

Easy commute if you live in the Valley. Umm.. trying to make my 20 word minimum here.. uhhh .. uhh.

Cons

EP's IT/Technology department is the single greatest toxic morass of dysfunction and chaos I have ever seen. I've literally never seen or heard of a single IT project that didn't go up in flames and I wonder if the CEO is even aware of how poorly the department is managed. Projects are regularly understaffed, underbudgeted, poorly managed and overpromised. As a result, everything is constantly imploding and egregious amounts of time and money are completely wasted, over and over and over. Co-workers regularly wonder how this place hasn't gone out of business. It looks like the ship is finally sinking, thanks to the mindblowing ineptitude of the CTO, whose entire skillset seems to be relegated to laying people off. That's literally the only successful thing he's managed to accomplish in his brief time at EP and apparently the only way he knows how to make his numbers. That and creating a culture of fear and threats. Developing great new products, expanding market share, beating the competition, and innovating are all way beyond his abilities. The CTO is in way over his head, everyone realizes it and morale is in the dumps. For EP'ers who doubt this, ask yourself this simple question: what was EP's share of the payroll market in 2011 and what is now? Once you find out the answer to that question, you'll see the truth. While you're at it, ask yourself why is everything that EP does a quick, cheap, bandaid fix? why do they refuse to invest in any long term projects? why are they moving so many projects offshore? why are they constantly reducing headcount? could it be because the exec team are prepping the company for sale? You can face the ugly truth or continue to believe the lies that management and HR tell you. How can you tell that the CTO is lying? His lips are moving. Here's how completely tone deaf the CEO and HR are: they spent weeks begging employees to vote in a Great Places to Work survey, then promptly had layoffs.

First of all, thank you for taking the time to offer feedback. The pressures faced by our teams are common in the technology field today, and the scope and frequency of change required to stay ahead of the curve can create an intensity unseen in other fields. Many tech divisions/companies have recently employed shrink-to-grow strategies and though the outcomes may cause anxiety it is always about looking ahead at nailing future success. We are working on improving upon and increasing our forums of communication and your feedback definitely suggests we have a ways to go. My door is always open if you would like to come by and discuss your concerns, and I hope you will to come to our Town Halls to ask questions and share your observations.

Horrible

Pros

The people doing the work are great. The benefits are acceptable.

Cons

Executives openly lie then try to cover it up. "Upside-down pyramid" management structure with far too many people hired by their new executive friend. What used to be a family atmosphere has turned into a ridiculous bureaucracy as bad as a government office. Firing long-term employees based upon a training survey. The almighty share price drives every decision. Experienced employees and management ignored. New CTO is feared but not respected. Terrible upward mobility due to distrust and insider job placement. Ridiculous emphasis on outsourcing.

Pros

Free candy. HMO health coverage and good paymasters. More parking available soon.

Cons

People train their India replacements and then they are terminated. Management told us it was just augmentation but it in fact it is replacement.

We know people are looking forward to solving the parking challenge and are glad a remedy is on the horizon. Due to the nature of our business, data security is absolutely a top priority for us and we made the decision to work with partners who are able to provide constant, in-depth 24/7 monitoring of our systems for us beyond what we could do on our own. We must continually seek and upgrade to best-in-class solutions in the interests of our clients and all of our employees, and regret any miscommunication.
