Pros

Relaxed work environment, long lunch breaks with lots of chatting. Self-managed and therefore ability to work as you like. Cheap cafeteria.

Cons

The management and HR don' t apply and respect the company rules and procedures. People start grievances against their managers or colleagues. Dishonest and unhelpful co-workers (the ones that have lasted many years know the tricks and how to set traps). Beware of those "very friendly and polite" faces, they might stab you in the back. Many business and employment decisions based on personal political agendas. There is so much overlap in roles, some managers are doing almost nothing. Management clique is made up mostly of outdated people that have outlived the company. They know the company rules and how to break them without being caught.

Pros

Friendly working environment, very good salary, excellent pension scheme. Subsidised restaurant and attractive working environment. Superb array of corporate benefits, plus the 'feel good' factor of working for a prestigious and well-known brand name. Great products. Lots of European travel, some colleagues were really good to work with.

Cons

No training or career development opportunities. I basically had to teach myself everything required to do my job. Inexperienced Line Manager offered no support or guidance, but was very good at making demands and stealing credit for work. No company car nor car allowance, despite the need for frequent business travel. Appraisal system a joke - I had to write my own reviews. HR practices are sneaky and unfair, quite unlike anything I have ever experienced before. The company culture and (lack of) management guidance is demoralising.

Pros

Great people, good pension, interesting and brilliant products, lots of innovation and variety, nice perks like subsidised restaurant, dress down Fridays, 3pm Friday Finish during the summer, 3pm finish on your birthday, great social events, onsite exercise classes

Cons

If you are considering starting a family don't work here. The maternity package is terrible. Probably one of the worst in the area. Very few women in senior roles (apart from in Marketing and HR) The parking is awful! If you aren't at work well before 9am you will struggle to find a car parking space and if you park outside of a bay you will get a stroppy note on your car. Also, the access out of the car park at the end of the day can be dreadful. One day this week it took an hour just to leave the carpark, which meant I was late to collect children from childminder resulting in a fine. This seems to happen whenever there is a crash on any of the surrounding major roads (M25/M1), or roadworks which I know is way beyond Epson's control but its easily solved simply by allowing staff to work from home one day a week, thus relieving the strain on the car park and traffic flow.

Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review – It’s great to hear you are passionate about our products and enjoy the benefits we offer here at Epson. Thank you for your feedback regarding our maternity package; our benefits are constantly being reviewed and benchmarked alongside competitors and market data to ensure we offer the best we can for our employees and we are really proud of the variety of benefits we offer at Epson. As for women in senior roles we have just this week released our gender pay-gap report from April 2018, so this might give you a little more insight into this area. In regards to the parking, this is really important to us and Epson is actively looking into various solutions; watch this space over the next few months for further updates and information on the matter. As the business has grown, our headcount has increased and this along with other tenants joining the Westside site has meant the car park has become busier over the last year hence why we are looking at other solutions. Thank you for your post. Your comments will be considered along with other feedback as we continue to make Epson a great place to work!
