Pros

Equinox is an amazing place to start...and grow...your career as a personal trainer. They offer unmatched educational opportunities, plus you learn a ton from your amazing coworkers. The environment teaches you to be top-notch not only as a fitness professional, but also as a customer service professional. Best experience I could have asked for when I started my fitness career. You come out of there worlds ahead of many of your peers and it is always impressive to potential employers and clients that you spent career-time at Equinox.

Cons

Long hours, especially in the beginning g when you are a Tier 1 trainer and have to work floor hours (paid) while building up your clientele, but the company provides every tool and resource to help you get there. Also, benefits are great, but dependent upon meeting your numbers so a couple of times I had my benefits held. Losing one client they trains frequently can knock you out of your target ranges so always need to be ahead and hustle hard. Not for the faint of heart, but definitely worth every minute of the experience. Be ready to WORK....but isn't that how it should be?

Amazing potential, but caught up in corporate greed

Pros

Great, passionate people. A lot of creative potential. Access to beautiful fitness clubs.

Cons

Too many stakeholders and opinions. Horrible corporate atmosphere and most in HQ don't seem happy. Leadership isn't aligned, often there is finger-pointing when numbers don't hit. Very difficult place to work.

Pros

The only pro is that you get as free gym membership and the other employees are generally pretty great. There is some room for growth, but growing in this company is not worth it. You either don't make much more or make LESS. For example, you get paid minimum wage at the front desk and from there you could become a personal trainer or sales rep, but both of these are almost purely commission.

Cons

Expect to get paid like a waitress, treated like a car salesman and expected to dress and look like a celebrity. Although co-workers are awesome, most management is awful and fairly evil. The trainers don't know what they are doing and aren't given enough experience before being hired. The management does give the trainers "training" once a week for the job where they essentially just take the trainers into a room and yell at them for sucking at their jobs for a couple hours and explain creepy tactics for forcing people to be your client. Additionally very little time for breaks. If you are a trainer expect multiple phone calls if you aren't at the gym for more than 2 hours, even if you worked a 12 hour shift (without pay) because why should you be doing anything else when you could be finding clients??
