Pros

Diverse work environment; employee-centered culture; great benefits such as 401k, medical and dental and vision, stock purchase plans. Supportive of work/life balance. The company welcomes a "question authority" ethic.

Cons

More coffee in the break-room, oh, wait we don't have a break-room! Honestly I cannot think of 1 negative aspect to working at Equity.

Pros

Support from Management, Able to Question Authority, Diverse leadership and Onsite Teams, Employees are appreciated and there are many ways they can be rewarded on top of their base salary. At other REITS it has felt as if Maintenance/Facilities we're part of the so called untouchables when our Corporate leaders would show up. At Equity it's the exact opposite and was a bit of a shock to me. The fact that our Local Corporate team remembers our onsite staffs name including porters is amazing. I made the right choice moving to Equity. There is a sincere passion for serving people that at other places has been forgotten. The investment in individual development for both service and office staff is ahead of the competition. I'm proud to be a part of an amazing company and will continue to Enjoy The Ride!

Cons

No Company Phone, I'm not used to Management being so approachable (if this is even a con)

Hello, and thanks a million for the outstanding review! We can’t express enough how much we love hearing from our Service team members. You are truly the backbone of our company, and we are so glad that your experience since joining us has been that you feel acknowledged, seen, and appreciated. For many years in our industry, we all felt that the Service teams were our unsung heroes — but we have made active strides in recent years to enhance the support, training, and resources that our Service teams need to be successful. We don’t want you to be unsung — we want to sing your praises from the rooftops! We’re thrilled that you found Equity and that your transition was so positive. And as hard as you and your team always work, we know we are just now wrapping up the busiest, most demanding months of the year. We would like to acknowledge your team's efforts throughout our peak season, as well as the efforts of all of your Service colleagues from coast to coast. Thank you today and every day for your remarkable contributions to making this company great!

Pros

There is a true feeling of togetherness and inclusion, and it is something that the entire company is focused on. The culture is promoted on a regular basis and makes Equity Residential a place that I am truly proud to work for and tell people about. Upward mobility is there for you to take if you put the work in. I started with zero experience at an entry level position and was able to promote to a Regional position within 10 years. Communication is great, and Executives often make time to hear from the 'little people', which is shown through policy shifts and system improvements that are suggested by on site teams. The company advocates for a strong feeling of work/life balance, allowing you to feel not only like you can, but that you should, disconnect from the business when you are not at work.

Cons

Staffing runs a bit thin, so you are often very busy, but you have more empowerment than other companies to make decisions which helps efficiency and doesn't tie your hands in fast paced environments. Most entry level positions will require at least one weekend day, but you will always have 2 days off in a row to create a 'weekend'.

Wow - what an amazing compliment! Not just your five-star review (which is awesome) - but more importantly, your 10 years of service (even more awesome). We are beyond appreciative of the work you do every day to lead your teams and your region to success. The story of your career, from where you started to where you are today, is so inspiring, and we’re sure you have paid it forward time and time again by inspiring and developing those around you. We can’t thank you enough for that. Thank you for your honest and balanced feedback and advice, and for sharing such great insight about our remarkable company. We are lucky to have you - here’s to many more years of collaborating together to make this a great place to work!
