Pros

We have a shiny new building close to Crocker Park! That's about it. Most of the positive comments on other posts have been planted there in response to the true responses. I should add though that it is an interesting product and you do learn about some neat ways that people invest and make money in their IRA.

Cons

Top executives are pitted against each other. I have actually witnessed screaming matches between 2 longer term C-level leaders. I should say many of us did since it was right in front of everyone. When "leadership" reads a new book that becomes the new flavor of the month management philosophy. Examples: TopGrading "we only retain A players", Jobs, "we are just like Apple", etc. The gym, new building are just for show. There is not a humane thought process in the leadership team. More than once I have heard when an error has occurred, "who do we fire?". You get the sense that there is not a strong moral compass from "leadership", well at least when they are actually there.

Pros

Check has never been late in 7 years. There is on site food and a gym. Coworkers are good people. That's about it.

Cons

If you would like to work for an organization that has no loyalty to its employees, does not have job protection, where favoritism is very much alive, where managers and supervisors are always in meetings and not available to help the staff, were no matter how long you have been with the organization you are treated like a new hire, were the clients accounts are consistently screwed up, were the clients are consistently pissed off, where the staff is unhappy and told to quit by management if they are unhappy, were the roles are forever changing and you cannot acclimate yourself to the role but are expected to or leave, were they do sprinkled out company events to impress new hires and 3rd party tracking companies, were the president and CEO do not want to be bothered or maybe are hermits, were the president of the company demands results but provides Horrible cheap tools to the employees, where they rather promote externally than internally, where you will be stuck in a role with no room for growth, a company that requires a wealth of knowledge but is not willing to provide adequate training , where you are expected to help everyone but you get no appreciation, were the dress code is only enforced if another employee complains about you, were you are limited on how many days off you can have in a row, were it is a battle internally to assist clients while having to working with another department, were the managers are brand new and have no idea what path the organization is on, were you manager could be a jerk, bully, treat you differently and no one cares. Than boy oh boy do I have an organization for you. I have worked with Equity Trust Company for more than 7 years. If you look at the anniversaries calendar you will see that this is a rare number within the company for good reasons. The organization is forever is an endless cycle of bad change. Backwards evolution. I have nothing to show for my wealth of knowledge for this industry and company besides 160 of PTO. If you truly feel you can work for an organization that I can honestly say does NOT care about the employees at the end of the day, then you will do fine here. I will say my check has never been late, and that’s the only thing that has not changed. I personally have always cheered for this company and stated to other staff members this is a growing organization and I supported the company. But there are only so many mistakes you can forgive. Good luck, after your 1st year here maybe sooner you will see this company could care less about anything you have to offer. As in any job your co-workers really make the difference and that is why so many people stay.

Cons

This job from the outside looks like a dream. The building is absolutely beautiful and they act as though this is the place to build & grow within your career. And then you start working there and it slowly but surely turns into an absolute nightmare and nothing at all like they said. The energy here is eerie and uncomfortable. It’s so quiet it’s like a museum. Worst management I have experienced in my entire working career so far. Nobody talks to each other. There’s 0 engagement, no communication or collaboration. Leadership is nonexistent. You are out of the loop 99% of the time with vital information to know. And when you didn’t know what you didn’t know and you make a mistake, you get in trouble for it. Training is sink or swim. People act very strange here, very cliquey. Something you just seriously do not want to experience. I had to remember most times that I was at work and not in high school. The pay is disgusting for the amount of work you do and how evidently cheap the head honchos are. Instead of a Christmas bonus, we all lined up for them to hand out dollar store cookie mix and cookie cutters. Purposefully understaffed, it was shameful and everyone was so burned out it’s mortifying to know that people are perfectly okay treating human beings like this for the sake of a dollar. Operations management demanded at a meeting once that people were to stay past 5 to “be there for your colleagues” when it was really to work you to the bone. Workers felt so threatened by their fear and intimidation strategies that they would stay for hours after their legal shift time. Some people would have to leave on FMLA due to stress. OSHA’s been called on them before. HR is a joke and will do anything to protect the company, not the employee. I honestly have no idea how this place hasn’t been investigated & sued…AGAIN, had workers go on strike, or went bankrupt. Working in operations I saw some pretty inappropriate and unjust things go on behind the scenes and this place was full of disorganization and unprofessionalism. I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt for awhile; tried to find the positive. It took such a toll on me mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually that I had to get out for the sake of my own peace. I’m thankful I have a better and healthier career now, but I wanted to warn others of this horrific work place and to stay far away!! Please, save yourself the migraines and your health failing and do not work here. They treat people unfairly & do not deserve to keep being in business. To be honest, it’s devastating that the people in charge of this company know that workers are leaving left and right, being treated in horrific and demeaning ways, and still turning the other way while upper management boasts about living lavishly knowing that it was the workers, not them, who made that possible.
