Pros

- Great place to work as a marginalized person - Since the 2017 layoffs and refocus, people work at a faster pace and focus more on iteration - Good benefits and perks including weekly free lunch and daily snacks - Best office I've ever worked in - The HQ isn't in Manhattan - Remote friendly, working from home is encouraged - Great and interesting challenges - Working on a marketplace that encourages people to be creative and gives artists a way to live while doing what they enjoy - Good growth and learning opportunities

Cons

- Change is hard and some people are definitely a bit salty - Your experience can depend on the team, but things are getting more standardized which is nice - The attrition was tough post-layoffs, but has vastly improved - Sentiment amongst Etsy sellers can be demoralizing, but the company is listening to them and things are getting better

Pros

Culture was a huge part of the reason people came and people stayed. There are amazing people who work at Etsy and the community you support is awesome.

Cons

Not everyone comes at solving a problem with community first. The company scrambles on understanding if it's a community based company or an ecommerce site. For certain departments, people move up because they are there, not because they are the most qualified. Decisions are made by people who don't understand small business and creatives.

Pros

Good people to work with, interesting problems to solve, delivering a meaningful product to a select group of star sellers as well as many buyers around the world

Cons

A dwindling tolerance at the senior leadership level for challenging authority and an increasing appetite for top down decision making, tons of fraud and trust/safety concerns due to all of the scammer sellers, dissonance between values and actions from leadership, years of poor business decisions by the executive team resulting in a lack of core growth and layoffs (both hidden and public)
