Pros

Made some good friends here

Cons

Everything. The pay is horrible, the management is horrible, the hours are horrible because overtime is basically mandatory every day. They do not value their employees whatsoever. I brought up several concerns to management about work environment and I was ignored and nothing was done to address my concerns. I would avoid this place like the plague

Pros

There is room to learn for a new graduate The general training in the training building allows you to find and meet people in the same situation as you - new hires

Cons

The learning environment in your department is not good. I feel like i am bothering coworkers when i have questions. The amount of gossip in my department makes me feel like i am back in middle school. The full time employees that have been in the group for years constantly complain about the company pay, benefits, work flow, etc. The environment is very negative. In addition, during my training, my trainer often seemed rushed because she had to train me, another trainee ,and work on her own tests. This left me feeling unguided with some tasks. There was also alot of down time where my trainer didnt have anything for me to do. As for work life, the other coworkers all have clicked together in their own groups. an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon before leaving they all circle up and gossip about everyone else. Many whispering. very unfriendly. I can see why employer retention is low and why many people leaver or transfer out of my division.... I hope things get better.

Lab Tech 1 (Prep Lab)

Pros

-Fellow prep lab coworkers help ease the pain of over 50-60 hour work weeks. -Music really helps keep the pace and mood when you clock in between 12-2pm and clock out at 2-3am.

Cons

-I genuinely cannot list them all, the Food and Environmental Microbiology department treats their Lab Tech 1 people like theyre garbage. People literally have mental breakdowns weekly because they are overworked for months and this has been continuing for the 5 YEARS the departments been open. BUT WAIT! HAVE NO FEAR! WE JUST GOT A BLACK PEARL FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE SO CLEARLY THEY'RE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT!! Seriously?! -You clock in and don't know when you're going to get out. Some days it's midnight some days it's 345 am, just don't know. It doesn't matter how far away you live too. You can only leave when there's no more samples to do. You want to see your family or live a normal life? This is not the job for you. -I couldn't even wish this job on my own worst enemy. -The experience is not worth being over worked for low pay, and being treated like your voice doesn't matter. -Internships will treat you better.
