ok for one year to get experience, but get out quickly
Pros
If you are an independent worker who is fine figuring things out on your own with minimal guidance, this is your place for a short amount of time.
Cons
Despite having a career ladder, they only offer promotions once per year and each department has a limited amount of money to promote individuals and offer merit increases. This leads to a very competitive environment, low morale, and people looking out for themselves instead of working as a team. Managers also promote their favorites instead of individuals who can actually do the job well, especially to leadership or management roles. If you are willing to drink the Kool-Aid, you might become a favorite. If you ask tough questions or offer suggestions for improvement, you will be blacklisted and your work life will be horrible even if you are a star performer. Because they offer limited promotions and the merit increases are small (two percent if you are an outstanding employee during a good year financially), the pay is WAY below market value for anyone staying beyond a couple years. The benefits are also substandard. For example, I paid 92% of the premiums for a high deductible health insurance plan as a single person. The company did not contribute to a health savings plan to help meet that high deductible either. There is very limited communication between managers and staff. Even information that will help you do your job well is mostly withheld from you. They deliberately withhold that information to keep you from advancing or threatening their hold on the department.
