Pros
This is a forum for people to share their honest and sincere feedback, to help companies and potential employees learn what is working and where there are areas of opportunity. It is unfortunate that a few discontented current and past employees have abused that right in effort to berate the hard work that has gone into building this organization and to defame dedicated individuals who have a genuine interest in seeing Everspring succeed.
As a current employee I find this behavior disgusting and personally insulting. For future reference, I would recommend that you take concerns to your employer before they escalate to the point where you must air your unresolved feelings by lashing out on social media with speculative claims instead of providing unbiased, constructive criticism. This indirect way of communication offers no real benefit to anyone, is self-serving and harmful, and only reinforces why you are better suited for another organization.
For those who are interested in an objective perspective on this organization, I encourage you to read on. First, you should know that Everspring has an extremely high retention rate which includes most of the senior level management and original employees. That type of retention is rare for a start-up. While admissions may be an exception to the overall high retention rate of ES employees, this is due mostly to terminating employees who were found not to be fit for the vastly talented team of current admissions advisors. It is true, there are certain individuals who would not/have not succeeded here due to the hard-working nature required, so if you are not someone who is driven by the rewards of your efforts this is not the environment for you.
While we Everspringers pride ourselves on our work ethic (and the work ethic of our peers), we know how to let loose and have fun. ES is continually hosting after hour events either by department or organization. We celebrate one another’s milestones and successes and want to see one another succeed.
As with any organization that is in the first five years of growth, career advancement is slow. But, those who sign on to work for a start-up would know this is typical. However, the opportunity to advance your salary and career are available to those who work hard and are dedicated! If deciding to stick it out for the long haul like many of us, the experience you receive by being a part of building and putting your name on something is extremely valuable to those who truly aspire to have successful futures as leaders and entrepreneurs.
Let’s talk about the real reason the dedicated ES’ers are here and staying. It is certainly not just for a paycheck. While it is true, the pay is above industry standard, anyone who is not truly passionate about the job they sign on for should really think about whether they are in the right line of work. While PTO could be more plentiful and the company should find a way to offer additional perks such as tuition assistance, the reality is we are here because we feel invested in one another and the people whose lives we are changing. Education is transformative. No matter what is going on in one’s life personally or how the economy affects the decision to pursue higher ed, there will always be a desire for individuals to grow. Education provides the opportunity to become more worldly and opens not just career advancement opportunities, but the mind and heart. Now that is a cause I stand for... promoting growth through learning which will lead to more awareness (both self-awareness and globally), so we can reduce misunderstanding in a world that feels so defensive and victimized. We are here for a greater cause, to help individuals gain the skills necessary to better communicate openly and directly, which will strengthen relationships and reduce bias and misinterpretation. We are not just here for a paycheck while waiting for the “next best” admissions, marketing... tech role to come along. We are creating our best environments with what we have! We believe in ourselves, each other, and the thousands of lives we touch. That is why we are here and staying. That is who the Everspringer is.
If you are an adaptable individual looking for a career where the work you do is truly making a difference in the lives of others, then Everspring is a great choice for you. Be prepared for constant change, relying on your own creativity to find solutions, and an opportunity to grow both personally and with an organization. Do not let those who are less motivated and clearly un-fulfilled discourage you from becoming a part of a dynamic and talented group of diverse individuals. It sounds like now is an ideal time to join the organization, since Everspring has done a great job weeding those less inspired types out.
Cons
Tuition assistance is critical as we are in the business of higher ed.
