5 Years In… Company Going Downhill

Pros

I have absolutely loved Evolve for several years, hence my tenure here. I’ve worked on many different teams and have met so many wonderful people. The culture is great, benefits are awesome, team events are fun, and my job is actually pretty easy & fun. So, why the three stars…

Cons

Evolve has really started going downhill as of late. There have been two layoffs (2020 & 2023). While 2020 is a bit more understandable due to COVID-19, to have it happen again in 2023 is complete unacceptable. There was a hiring spree between the two layoffs to keep up with an increase in travel and, thus, volume, but the employees hired were clearly expendable. Instead of hiring fewer and training better, it was a mass hiring spree of bodies to answer calls with no real understanding of the role. And then when layoffs happened, it wasn’t those people that go let go, it was people who had put their heart and sole into the company for YEARS. My friends, faces of the company, people doing great work… just gone. There was no rhyme or reason other than laying off tenured people to save money. To go through multiple layoffs takes a mental toll that is hard to come back from. Another thing I really think needs improvement is repercussions for poor work. It’s been mentioned in other reviews but you will not be reprimanded for losing the company money doing the wrong process. Nor, will you be recognized for doing the correct process and excelling at your role. You’re just there to do the work and that’s it. While the culture is great, don’t expect a bonus or any sort of reward for working hard. It makes motivation drop and it’s harder to clock in each day. Overall, my experience with Evolve has been a positive one but these reviews were much better a year or two ago. Leadership needs to look into the actual issues going on and focus less on the quantitative goals.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We’re glad to hear about all of the reasons you love Evolve and are grateful for the time you’ve spent as our teammate. We understand that as a tenured Evolver, you’ve seen many iterations of our company, and while some are understandably more difficult than others, all have been made with the intent to create a better business for our owners, guests, and teammates alike. It takes a great team to run a successful business, and we strongly encourage you to speak with your manager or People Business Partner to shine a light on anything that has negatively impacted your experience.

Pros

My manager was incredible, lots of nice people work here. Good benefits. Great DEIB initiatives! The leader of DEIB was incredible, they do so much to make employees feel seen and included. In my particular role I had a great work/life balance.

Cons

Evolve was amazing when I first started... So much growth, so many amazing people, so much opportunity. But it has very quickly turned toxic and frankly, the company is seriously struggling. They have lost so many incredibly talented employees either from laying them off or from the employees quitting (because the workplace is so effing toxic!) This company has the absolute worst leadership. The CEO is a nice guy and I have nothing bad to say about him, but the rest of the leadership team is actually so horrific. There is so much blatant favoritism. They talk about a culture of COHAD and openness, but when you share your concerns or issues they are swept under the rug if you are not one of the 'popular' people. The amount of favoritism and 'clicks' at this company is beyond belief. One of the people on leadership, who I won't name, complains constantly about every single little thing and nitpicks every little thing as well. Incredibly stubborn, rude, stuck in her ways, and had zero respect for my team. Also... they complained about having no money and then hired 6 senior managers, who have no one to manage?? Evolve hired a senior leader in 2022 who is legitimately a tyrant. Incredibly entitled, rude, micromanager. A few short months after she was hired, her entire team quit. The teammates expressed their concerns, nothing was changed. Sooo... naturally the entire team quit. The senior leader got to stay. And then... Evolve hired 6 more senior managers in the same department... no clue who they are managing because they legitimately have no one to manage. The entire team is gone. .....??? Also, the company recently spent THOUSANDS of dollars on an Owner Growth conference where they flew everyone out to Denver HQ, had an all expenses paid night out to Lucky Strike in Denver, and everyone received extremely expensive gifts and catering. But then a few weeks later? They laid off 14% of their company because "the economy is so tough we aren't making any money we can't afford to keep you". ???? Cool. Priorities I guess. DO NOT WORK HERE. Doesn't matter what other people are telling you, what you read on the website, what they preach to you over the phone or during the interview process.... take it from me as someone who saw the negative reviews and ignored them... don't do it. Not to mention... they horribly underpay people unless you are in a senior position or LT member. It's disgusting. You are much better off somewhere else!

Thank you for your review. We are pleased to learn of your appreciation for the DEIB initiatives. Our team has worked hard to build this program and we are glad to hear it has been impactful for you. We’re saddened to hear your feedback regarding your overall experience here. Finding and training effective leaders is a top priority for us and we will continue to focus heavily on ensuring our managers are prepared to set their teams up for success. We did want to offer clarity on the team building event you mentioned – we believe it’s important to show gratitude to our teammates and give them the opportunity to make connections and celebrate their wins. We will continue to be critical of our spending as a business and we view the Evolver experience as a priority. Thank you again for taking the time to leave a review. Pros

Safe building. No fear of attack.

Cons

Day care center where you get paid to be watched. Name games and ice breakers for daily. Good place to reverse your intelligence after college.

Hi, we’re sorry to hear you feel that way. As you know, the sales team has grown quite a bit over the past few months, which means we’ve been incorporating more team building activities. It sounds like the majority of your feedback pertains to a specific manager, in which case we’d really like to look into this further. If you haven’t already done so, can you please contact the People Team to provide some additional context on this?
