Disingenuous leadership

Pros

Great non-leadership co-workers within internal departments. Casual work attire, flexible work from home policy, decent benefits.

Cons

There's a high expectation to succeed with little or no guidance; you're just expected to hit the ground running. And then when you fall short of expectations, there's little that is actually done to coach you other than identify what you did wrong. It's a recipe to set individuals up for failure since we're left to our own devices when it comes to success and failures. There's been many leadership changes in the past few years, making it difficult balance expectations with towing the line and managing new expectations. The worst is how a new leader can come on board with the pretense of trying to get to know you and your role, only to find out that it's for the sheer purpose of divesting it to someone else. It's pretentious, dishonest, and deceiving. In terms of employee recognition, there's an award platform, but it is not often used. There are points that can be issued to redeem through a catalogue, but points are rarely issued especially by senior leadership. Pat on the back, and off you go. The worst is that there is a false sense of value about mental health and stress management. There's kitchy arbitrary tools and advice given (e.g. take frequent short breaks), but when there are more serious issues around depression or personal situations, all you get is acknowledgement of the situation but no actual nor genuine attempts to work with you on finding middle ground so that you can continue to be effective at work while you manage your personal challenges.

Pros

It is a job that provides income and benefits.

Cons

People are treated as widgets and not humans. Communication is horrible. Leaders do not know how to lead and are stretched too thin. ESI believes high employee turnover is good.
