Pros

Other than the senior executives, and 1 or 2 questionably educated sales people, Exterro's employees are smart, talented people who make the day fun. The industry is fantastic and Exterro has some amazing clients.

Cons

The founding executives have absolutely no idea what they are doing. They place absolutely no emphasis on work quality so the products have way too many problems. They don't listen to their clients who tell them the same thing and as an employee, if you point this out and try to make a change, the execs tell you that you're "not on the bus" and should leave. No criticism is allowed even if meant to be constructive. I agree with the other reviewer about HR. In addition, everyone is expected to work 12-16 hour days, and be on call outside of that. And if you do something well, you are rarely praised, appreciated or rewarded for it.

Pros

The employees are great, when something needs to get done, it gets done. As stated in the headline, the industry is great and clients and prospects are both interesting and intelligent. In theory, there is room for development.

Cons

The management is the worst I've ever seen. They are a group of software engineers trying their hands at being executives, and failing miserably. Basic HR laws are regularly neglected and just plain acknowledged but ignored. When I've had an HR issue/question, there was no one to turn to. Their motto on HR is, "We don't need or want HR around here." You need to adjust to their philosophy on life first and go along with it, or you are let go, regardless of skill. Consequently, there have been questionable promotions based off of attitude alone, skill and background disregarded. Turnover is terrible, and there are a small handful of employees who have been there for over a year.
