I Miss the Old F5

Pros

- Love some of my coworkers and have made some lifelong friends - My direct managers have been awesome and have helped me grow - Health insurance is insanely good - While I disagree with RTO, the office is nice - Work-Life Balance is pretty solid

Cons

- IT Upper management has absolutely no idea what they are doing. The blend of incompetence and sometimes borderline hostility from management has put us in a very bad spot. The recent re-org was and continues to be the worst roll out I have experienced. From what I can see, morale is at an all time low and no one knows what to do. Any time we think we are going to get an update, meetings get cancelled. Most questions get answered with anywhere between "I don't know" and "We will have to see". Productivity seems to have been effectively shut down while management decides what to do with the re-org. - Layoffs, followed by a re-org, then followed by RTO is not the way to keep talent at F5. - Compensation is all over the place. HR will work against you when it comes to being fairly compensated.

Pros

-You will meet so many incredible and bright people working here -Pay is decent & benefits are okay

Cons

-The new CEO (Francois) is doing to F5 what he did to his last company (Ciena)...cutting budget, laying off entire offices and outsourcing to non US locations, cutting benefits, destroying morale. This new CEO also changed our company values from being based on work ethic/being good people to our new values about money/speed -The HR department is a joke. Remote offices dont even have HR reps. I've been groped, harassed, hassled because of my gender and age -Remote employees are scoffed at, and you will only be able to move up if you work in/relocate to the HQ office in Seattle - Recent implementation of doomed projects (oracle based systems) where failure is catastrophic -Useless/brainless middle management and uncaring higher ups (who all seem to have absolutely no employee loyalty) -Slackers who suck up to higher ups advance in position, while the actual honest/hard working employees doing all the work are left in the dust I have been with F5 for over 10 years. When I started here (under previous CEO, John McAdams), the company *WAS* incredible. It was my dream job...now 10 years later I cant believe this is the same company. F5 went from a caring honest company to a money obsessed monster ran by heartless robots whos only concern is their own insanely high paycheck. Its unfortunate that despite our company more than exceeding our monitary goals each QTR, emloyees have to sit by and watch layoff after layoff of great people and continue to see the slashing of budget and benefits left and right. If you have any integrity, I would not recommend working for this company...I can no longer sit by and watch this company run its employees into the ground and will be willingly leaving my decade career behind. The stress is too much to bear...

F5 Seattle moved to open space plan

Pros

Up until now, I would have given F5 5 stars, but with the roll out of open space format to save money the working conditions have gone way down. If you work well in a loud and bright open pit 'call center' like environment, this is the place for you.

Cons

F5 Seattle is in the process of replacing cubes and offices and rolling out open space floor plans. Everyone except directors and above are being moved to 2.5 x 6 tables, low to no walls, and very bright overhead lighting. There's no privacy, it's crazy loud with cement floors echoing every foot step and conversation, and everybody can see what everyone else is doing across the whole length of the floor. The guy in front of me has his desk raised, I get to stare at his backside all day.
