Pros

This is a mission driven faith based organization that looks at its history to prepare for future. They strive for quality as the sisters would expect.

Cons

To say this is a Healthcare organization that is self insured, I find the medical benefits cost and coverages to be lacking.

Pros

A wonderful opportunity to care for people, when they are most in need.

Cons

I worked as an ER Technician in the emergency room at Our Lady Of The Lake Regional Medical Center for (2) years. Some of the nurses that I worked under where kind, caring professionals, but most where lazy, mean spirited and uncaring. I know for a fact, we lost several patients in the ER, as a result of this lack of care. I also felt constantly discriminated against because of my age (50+), and my race (African American).

Pros

Location to my home. Some of lower level staff friendly and team players.

Cons

Parking is a nightmare even if you are PAYING to park. Incompetent managers/leaders. The CEO at OLOL and FMOL are practically non existent expect for a weekly newsletter email. I've worked here for 8 years and have only seen FMOL CEO twice and about the same for the OLOL CEO. Promotions or hiring are on the buddy system and how well, I can brown nose. Culture of racism. The organization is politically connected that's why it is growing by leaps and bounds. The pay is low, census high, inexperienced leaders. I have seen better Medicaid plans than the health insurance offered and every couple of years there is a change in health insurance providers for a more cut rate less benefits than the last. This is a Magnet hospital on paper, the front line nurses have little to know voice. Did not pass their recent JCAHO assessment. Why I stay? Because they Blackball staff unofficially.
