Pros

The mission statement of FMOLHS is to serve those most in need and this hospital system does just that. FMOLHS cares about the staff and recognizes the hospitals achievements. I really enjoyed working at the System.

Cons

Their medical insurance benefit is not as well as you expect for a company of this size. Pay could be better and the pat answer is "the labor market surveys state we are within the acceptable rate of pay for our area". Maybe so, but if you want employee retention, pay better. Some of the supervisors need to management training. In a work environment where communication is key, there is information not being passed or not making sure both parties understand the information.

Pros

Good work/life balance. Advancement opportunities. Many great people. Relatively comfortable work environment.

Cons

A catholic organizations that does many un-christian like things. Inconsistency in the quality of leadership. Silo activities. Some poor leaders in very high positions. Very poor communication. Lack of consistent training budgets, especially for lower level staff. Definitely not a leader in adopting improvements. Very poor business decisions that waste valuable resources. Many very good leaders have left the organization due to being unable to affect positive change. Flagship hospital rated among the worst in the state by consumer reports speaks volumes about the real quality verse what the health system claims that it is. Change of directions and priorities occur almost every other week. Employee survey is allowed to be used as a hammer in management evaluations despite being preached that this is not allowed. No exit interviews. The culture breeds mediocrity. Many people advance merely by keeping their head in the sand and never affect any real change.
