Ability to make own schedule as it fits for your needs, but must make contracted weekly unit quota or use PTO. (Can ask for a temporary quota reduction for extenuating circumstances out of your control but may not be granted.) Support for clinical education/excellence with MedBridge account as part of benefits.

Cons

Never received a raise in the 2+ years I worked for Fox. No compensation/ unit credit for travel time between patients when providing home care over large geographic area which makes for very long days in order to make contracted quota in an ethical and legal way. Also no compensation/ unit credit given for mandatory meetings that occur during prime treatment time of workday. Expected to use personal cell phone for Fox business. No sick time so must use hard earned PTO. Subconsciously encourages healthcare employees to work when ill because no one wants to give up PTO they want to use for vacation or that they make need to make up a week of low productivity. High pressure given to participate in social activities and extra volunteer activities with Fox regional team that impacts family time with indication that lack of participation can impact career path with Fox. Company seems to run a lot like a MLM. Lots of people on the ground floor producing income for those in multiple layers of upper management who have more perks… unless you move quickly up those ranks, it’s disheartening.

Quotas, PTO, and sick days are topics that are covered before a colleague begins with FOX. We do give raises. We have a banking system that covers cancellations and sick days. We also give driving stipends to those who work in a large geographic area. If a colleague ever has a concern about any of these issues, they are always encouraged to communicate with their Regional Director. As for mandatory meetings that happen during prime treatment hours, those were eliminated a couple of years ago, which was a result of listening to feedback from our colleagues. We are also in the process of updating our documentation system, which has already shown significant time savings for our clinicians. Our morale events are meant to build team unity--something that was and is still very important to our founder, Dr. Tim Fox--and besides two-yearly touchpoints, these get-togethers are optional.

We are constantly monitoring salary and benefits. Every day we are doing our best to compensate our clinicians, while navigating the Medicare fee cuts that have occurred over the last five years. Because of our size and structure (and a lot of behind-the-scenes grit), we have been able to survive and grow, while other private practices have not. There are incentives tied into transitioning a patient to our FOX Wellness program, but overall, "pushing private pay," should not be the mentality behind it. Every FOX patient should be given the choice and opportunity to start FOX Wellness. Our goal is to keep our patients active and healthy, rather than discharging them after a round of skilled care, only to see them again the next time they experience an injury or a functional setback. Harkening back to what our Founder, Dr. Tim Fox, used to say at every orientation, EVERYONE in FOX works in Sales. Promoting our practice--and everything we can accomplish with our patients--is part of the job!
