Pros

-Other employees who were easy to get along with. -Decent equipment.

Cons

-99.9% Of calls were the company ripping off Medicare by transporting a barely sick person less than 5 miles to a nursing home from an ER or floor. -Management was hit and miss with a few being good to work for and several who were bipolar and egocentric. -Being held over late due to poor logistics. -Pay. $13.86 per hour on 12 hour BLS rig with no shift differential. Some employees worked 80 hours a week for a decent paycheck.

Pros

I have loved my time spent at Falck in San Jose. I feel constantly supported by our management team and coworkers. As my first EMT job I have learned many important skills I will utilize in my healthcare career. If you are willing to work hard and have a good attitude, you will quickly upgrade to an ALS or CCT EMT.

Cons

Low pay for the San Jose Area, mandatory holdovers. Having to travel to Petaluma for academy and additional training. You can expect a busy day 9/10 work days.

Pros

For my area- they are always hiring. The people that you are with great. Most supervisors are fantastic, trying their best to be the buffer.

Cons

Deplorable. Really. WRITE-UP CULTURE. Motivation through discipline and write-ups. Good luck with emails being responded to. Your license will be pushed to it's limits, and then be prepared to say, "I'm not supposed to do that." You must BLEED for this company and make it your life if you want to get anywhere. Guilty before proven innocent (I work in healthcare elsewhere and I've never had this type of treatment in my life). People from other branches of Falck have said, "this isn't how it is where I come from." Nurses have reluctantly unionized for seemingly retaliatory policies, and pay is individually discussed with new hires, which is about $10 less an hour than what I make at the hospital. EMT's, and paramedics are paid unbelievably low (it is said it is the "industry standard.")
