Pros

-Pay is fair relative to other competitive ambulance companies in the area. -supervisors are easy to approach and are nothing less than fantastic in terms of working with your schedule and what they expect of you -receive medical, dental and 401k benefits if a full time workers as EMTs, which is difficult enough to find in any job around Santa Cruz or San Jose. -offer their own courses for different level of care(ALS, CCT, etc) in order to allow employees to work different aspects of the transports prepared.

Cons

Rig upkeep seems to be the biggest problem. Due to the fact that their main repair station is up in Petaluma, a lot of the rigs down here that need service don't get it in a timely manner unless it's impeding usage of said rig. Don't think I ever been in one of the units that hasn't had it's check engine light on.

Pros

Great staff and staff supervisors

Cons

HR and senior management are openly disrespectful to line staff. Everyone knows that they don't care about employees. HR person is especially rigid, callous and negative. Clearly, they don't value their employees. I don't recommend that anyone work here unless there are no other opportunities. You will like your work but if you ever interact with management you will have a negative experience.

Pros

Experience. They take care of equipment. Good UHU. There's a good amount of turnover so landing a full time job is almost guaranteed. Great stepping stone for fire jobs.

Cons

Poor pay. Corporate and regional management prevent (justifiable) pay increases. This agency pays lower wages than other private EMS agencies. They lose a lot of good employees due to poor pay and make up gaps in their schedules by mandating work. It is not uncommon to get mandated 4-6 hrs over a shift. This has caused more people to leave. They now have begun mandating overtime on off-days.
