New policies have me looking for work elsewhere

Pros

I enjoy my team and manager.

Cons

Recently implemented a new sick leave policy where you have to use PTO when sick and if you run out of PTO you don’t get paid. After a global pandemic I find it extremely irresponsible that they would make some people choose from staying home or not getting paid. It’s disappointing to have to reserve some of our already limited PTO in case you get sick instead of using that well earned time to take a break from work. I would’ve chose a different company if this was the policy when I got hired. Unobtainable goals to reach the 10% bonus. My boss told me that no one ever get a 5 on reviews which is needed to get the 10% bonus. Realistically you’ll get around 5% Kinda seems like they will hire anyone which means there’s a lot of inexperienced people that drag down some of the teams. Extremely low pay for the industry. If you’re not a programmer expect to make 20%-40% less then what you would at a direct competitor Can’t hold down a ceo or head of the company. They’ve been through 3 or 4 ceo/interm ceos since I joined 2 years ago. Work from home policy is only within Denver and is hard to get if you want to move out of state even though most rolls are fully remote.

Thank you for your feedback. We take all reviews seriously and appreciate that you took the time to submit this. When you do have a concern arise, please remember that you can always go through one of various channels we have created internally to support our employees. You can reach out directly to your manager for assistance, submit an HR ticket, or reach out to a member of our People Team. Regarding the PTO policy, we apologize if there was any confusion in the recent communication, however we can assure you that there was no change in our sick leave policy, and our current policy is the same as we have been following in recent years. As with all of our policies and benefits, we will always prioritize looking out for the best interest of our employees. In terms of goal setting, this is determined by each department, and you should work in conjunction with your direct manager. Filling the CEO role remains a top priority for FareHarbor. We are being intentional about who fills this role, which can take time. Thank you.

Pros

Your co-workers are great! One thing FareHarbor did well was hire great people. You get experience in the tech industry that can help you transition to a different company. You should not stay at this company longer than necessary.

Cons

Management puts far too much pressure on their employees and expects way more out of them than they would ever expect of themselves. Upper management doesn’t even understand the software and rarely helps. Not a single person knows what management does. So much pressure to perform is put on you that you worry about work outside of work. Ignore all the 5 star reviews without any substance and look at any review with any description of the day to day and you’ll get a better picture of what it’s like to work here. When they say there’s tons of career growth within the company that’s a blatant lie. Sure you can move to different teams within the company, but that comes with a laughable raise that still doesn’t provide a liveable wage in Denver. You keep saying you can’t afford to pay your employees more, but you expect so much out of them as if you do.

Pros

- Rapidly changing directions allow you to quickly gain experience - They hire very intelligent, hard working lower level employees (nice to work with smart coworkers) - The software works well and serves clients easily.

Cons

- Salaries are exceptionally low for Denver and a company that's no longer a start-up. - Very strange culture. Multiple managers are dating, many employees are hooking up with each other. It's a party hard, work harder environment. - Promotions are not given on merit. It's mostly related to whether you're dating a coworker or drink with your manager outside of work. There were frequent rumors of people vaping or doing drugs in call rooms. - The majority of their workforce is under the age of 27 - there is an element of ageism in hiring (possibly due to the ability to pay less, not pay on benefits, and overall manipulate). - They frequently abuse the DWIFT motto to justify no work/life balance. - Horrible office environment; not enough bathrooms or supplies for 200+ people, continuous leaking ceilings, incredibly loud due to that many people in one, open room. - The nepotism, emotional manipulation, and almost fraternity/sorority like management style is repeated frequently in hiring and promotions. - Overall, if you need your first job here out of college - take it and work a year. If you have work experience, look elsewhere.
