Pros

-Work Life Balance -Wellness Days with one Friday off a month -Kind and smart coworkers -Heavy investment in D&I initiatives -Generous PTO/Medical leave policies -Transparency from most groups -Nice CEO who cares about people

Cons

-ZERO strategy or plan for the future. Unclear if this will be a security company, a CDN, or both. -Little continuity in the executive leadership level after most leaders fled. New leaders come from larger, established companies and don't seem to understand the foundational overhaul that is needed to even begin to address their plans for the future. -One or two people do the actual work, while others are simply "idea men" giving opinions. -Roles & Responsibilities are unclear throughout the company, and onboarding experiences vary from person to person. Most teams seem to have no training and expect you to sink or swim. -Constant complaints about process and standardization impeding progress, when there is none -Constantly told to deliver deliver deliver, without any real analysis of WHAT needs to be delivered and if it will actually provide value. Leads to tons of wasted time and energy. -Stock performance is worse than when they went public -New bonus structure is unclear, but will be given out as more stock -401K matching of 1K is laughable, and only added in the last year -Executive leader is known to be extremely emotional and disrupt any meeting they are in. Being known as the angry, blocking leader is not a good look. -Generally company is good about treating women well, but still has many employees that view note taking, organization, meeting scheduling, etc. as a woman's job. -CEO is leaving, unknown what the future CEO will be like.

Pros

Fastly is growing quickly and has a lot of opportunity for the right people. The products and offerings are bleeding edge and being a part of the future of the internet is really cool.

Cons

Fastly is great on paper but fails in practice. In an effort to appear as though they are doing "all the right things" they miss the mark of actually creating a welcoming and supportive place to work. Hiring and promotions are often based on who is friends with who before quality of work. Some people work 60 hours a week, some work 20-30 - both being paid FTE. A mass exodus is beginning and Fastly is placing warm fuzzies over actually addressing the issues. Teams have conflicting goals, which creates tension and inefficiencies. New internal tools get added routinely with little to no context on why or feedback from the people who have to use them. When rolling out a tool, there is not discussion around EOL'ing the current ones (e.g., there are currently four training tools, all being used). Anonymous employee satisfaction survey's are by no means anonymous and when presenting feedback to company, neutral and negative feedback is scrubbed from the list.

Pros

pros:salary was competitive; had all perks of a "cool startup" (stocked kitchen, catered lunches a few times a week); a lot of the employees were legit nice, fun to hang out with @lunch etc

Cons

con: probably the worst leadership team I've ever seen, and this is being in SF startup life for the past 10 yrs, they watch their backs and only care about themselves without any investment in teaching others or listening to, trusting the people they hire.meetings are horribly managed here. they hem, haw, and quibble over everything, and most of the time this prevents anything from actually getting decided in a meeting or getting done at the co., period. Ironic that their product touts innovation and speed, and yet internal progress is mired in bureaucracy and gets stalled..engineering has especially seen better days at this company, although fresh blood might fix some of the deep-rooted issues
