Pros

They are incredibly supportive and their training is excellent. There is a lot of flexibility and autonomy and a great culture. They have an active committee to work on diversity and inclusion. Their management teams are great in my experience. I believe some of the r negative reviews are from staff who had performance issues and were actually help accountable, which I prefer. People should be help accountable while being supported, which they do very well.

Cons

Pay- it’s not their fault though. Rates for mental health services are terrible so for the people complaining about pay- that’s not Fernbrook’s issue. That’s a system issue.

Pros

Flexible schedule, clients are fun

Cons

Big division between upper management and staff working with the clients. Flexibility is used against you - if a client cancels a session, they expect you to make up that time by scheduling a different client even if it’s not appropriate for their service plan. Money is priority to this company. Little to no hands on training; be prepared to wait weeks for an answer to a question.

Pros

….a nice resume builder if you stay long enough..

Cons

Long story short: I do not know how they are in business. Agencies like Fernbrook are the reason that social workers leave the field, and why clients lose trust in the mental health system. There is no support from management, despite them touting this in training. A worker at Fernbrook can’t even afford their health insurance, and will absolutely struggle to pay their bills unless they have a partner who makes an actual living wage. It’s astounding that this agency is able to stay afloat.
