Pros

Promotions and opportunities are based on merit rather than seniority Not a lot of bureaucracy Can be a good place to learn new skills

Cons

Although base salary is competitive, total compensation is well below market since barely any equity is given out The tech organization isn’t in a good place. The stack is failing to scale. There isn’t any leadership. There is only autonomy with no guidance and a CTO who values criticism of ideas and results over accountability and active leadership

Pros

- Unlimited PTO is truly unlimited, leadership is very supportive of using it when you need it and never asks questions - Tons of opportunities to work on interesting problems at the cutting edge - Leadership truly cares about whether you're working on something you're interested in--if you're not, you can easily move to something you are interested in - Strong technical direction towards modern tech stack - Excellent compensation - Tons of very high quality engineers - Heavy emphasis on engineer independence - Every engineer is empowered to make the decisions they think are correct - Blameless culture, if you mess up big time, the only responses are "how do we fix this?", "how did this happen?", and "how are we going to avoid this later on?" - People are generally very friendly and willing to help out

Cons

- Due to the emphasis on independence, and the "if you see something that needs doing, don't wait for someone, take responsibility and do it" culture, the organization is decently chaotic and can be hard to get a handle on. if you need a lot of structure, not for you - CTO is outright toxic and super narcissistic to the point where he was called out on terrible behavior by ~15 people in a Tech all-hands meeting, then by his directors, and still doubled down. if you don't have a lot of direct interaction with him, you're good, but if you want to be high up the leadership chain, avoid this company - Very little to zero stock compensation, which really sucks at a unicorn this successful

Thanks for leaving this detailed review and sharing your thoughts. Every single person at Fetch has options -- a share of ownership in the company. This is important to us as everyone is contributing to building this incredible company. And you hit the nail on the head with high-quality, independent engineers, operating semi-autonomously in a blameless culture. This culture is not bureaucratic, but we find that pretty much everyone gets a handle on things with time. I'd love an opportunity to talk with you more about your comments; please reach out to me or a member of our People Operations team so we can discuss more. -Rachel Olchowka, CPO
