Pros

Working here is providing many interesting design challenge for someone who likes to be busy. Because there is not many designer for each product area, one can get fair amount of responsibilities that will give plenty to do and many things for learning. People in the market are loving the product very much, so your work is having high visibility. If you are person who is wanting to work with high autonomy and solve difficult problem, this place is good for that.

Cons

While the product itself is world-class, the internal operational culture suffers from a profound lack of managerial consistency and strategic protection. There is a visible disconnect between middle management and the day-to-day execution of the work. Managers frequently operate as "absentees" during the critical developmental phases of a project, only to reappear for high-stakes reviews where they provide disruptive, late-stage feedback that often resets progress entirely. Furthermore, the organizational structure promotes a "pillar-based" silo system that breeds political maneuvering over cross-functional collaboration. Individual contributors are rarely shielded from these upper-level frictions, leading to a state of constant "thrash" where projects are pivoted or reduced to incremental changes to appease internal stakeholders rather than to serve the user. There is a pervasive sentiment that management is primarily incentivized by upward-facing optics and personal career positioning rather than the professional growth, mental well-being, or retention of their direct reports. This has led to a noticeable decline in morale across several teams.

It’s changed a lot, this is not an easy place to work.

Pros

Teammates are truly incredible. The talent is unmatched and you will learn so much, everyday. Good amount of perks but kinda low to average for a tech company. Remote work! The community is very engaged and keeps the teams going.

Cons

Uh, hyper growth with 0 support. We doubled our product suite and didn’t hire to help scale that. No work life balance. Everyone is expected to be so incredibly passionate, expectations are so so high. You could put your 120% in and work 60 hours and get a meets expectations. Marketing salaries are not competitive. The AI pressure has crept up and started to annoy the community and tbh, Internal teams. Lots of people are leaving because the company has changed so much and the burnout is real, it’s simply not worth it anymore. What was 4 years ago is simply a dream.

Pros

Great culture with collaboration and respect, amazing product, good leadership, lots of optimism for the future. I used to dread going to work in my past companies on Monday morning. At Figma, I find the projects and team mates interesting and want to go and work in the morning. Figma is also fully remote, which gives me more time to spend with family compared to being at the road in the Bay Area traffic. Coming from FANG companies, I found work place politics to be close to zero. Very high percentage of people try to do what is right for Figma, which is very refreshing.

Cons

No major complaints at all. When we see growing pains, leadership is generally quick to address them. Even though company is fully remote, if you want face time with others, the Hubs are not very close. For instance, in Bay Area, I have to commute to SF to see team mates. Luckily I do it only once or twice a month, which works fine. Would love to see more Hubs in the East Bay.
