Pros

- High quality bar for hiring. No jerks. Fantastic, talented colleagues to work with. - It's an awesome blend of B2C and B2B. Having a free plan drives a lot of growth. - Working with creative makers (our target audience) is fun. - The customer base is super passionate and vocal which means we get to work with an engaged community. - Some of the most progressive design forward companies are using the product already. - It's nice to be part of a winning team.

Cons

- Because we sell a design tool to customers with high expectations, we have to have a high quality bar for our work. Sometimes this doesn't work well for all types of employees as the pressure to execute with craftsmanship can be overwhelming. - We've gone from 50 to 100 employees in the last year. This a critical time where the CEO transitions from making a lot of decisions to making less and letting the team run. Sometimes people feel uncomfortable during this transition but it feels normal to me.

Pros

I came to Figma from one of those big unicorns, which was really a dream job experience. I had been on a rocket with that company and hit my ceiling faster than I anticipated. I decided to stay on but keep my ears open as VCs presented startup opportunities. I met with maybe a dozen startups and nothing felt right. Figma has a warm feel to it. I've heard it stated numerous times. People are friendly. I love the every 2 weeks happy hours. The rooftop. Being in downtown SF. We're on an amazing financial trajectory. Product/market fit. The product is really cool. We use it for building presentation decks and Figma cards on the daily. Fun company activities, team activities. Plus on this trajectory your job naturally grows very quickly. Did I mention dog friendly, good food, family and friends are always welcome, and the office is gorgeous?

Cons

The only thing I've really struggled with is the constant and rigorous prioritization that comes with scaling a startup quickly. The business demands you constantly do more and more and more, which is more and more possible as your team grows. In the meantime I find that time management skills come in super handy.

Pros

- Great team - everybody was working hard but not excessively so (work-life balance was very valued) - Short shipping cycle - new features were shipped every week and had direct impact on the product

Cons

- Feedback was seriously lacking - since there was no "direct" hierarchy in place, it was often tough to get good feedback on your work - Office politics - since there is no transparent feedback process, it was unclear how promotions are taking place, and those were seemingly random - Intransparent hiring policies - seemed to gear mostly towards ensuring some kind of diversity (whatever definition that entails) and not actual technical skill - Leadership - CEO doesn't have good skills to actually manage and provide a direction for the company, there doesn't seem to be a common goal
