Never A Dull Moment

Pros

Every customer, and their vehicle present a unique challenge and experience. Not the normal retail monotony. - Time Flies! Days off and work shifts are flexible. Good Benefits. Bonuses are real, and obtainable. Close earlier than most retail stores. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and 4th of July. Not busy during Christmas Company Values integrity, and is empowers employees to take care of customers.

Cons

Managers required to work weekend sales events once a month that are usually holiday weekends that normal people get 3 days off like labor day, memorial day, presidents day. Manager required to work one Sunday a month, but not allowed to take Monday off. Expected to work 6 days on weeks we are required to work Sunday. Average store has a small staff of 3 customer service associates including the store manager, to cover being open 7 days a week 12 hours a day. 50-60 hour work weeks normal for everyone. Not a lot of room for time off. You must be very hands on to work here, not much delegation, hapening around here. You will be accountable for personall performance, and leadership doesn't count for much. No Work life balance, long hours with no comp-time. Must work every Saturday. People promoted for being good sales people, not good leaders. Higher ups will ignore problems in store and managers who abuse employees as long as sales are good in store. Lack of development beyond store manager level. Culture of the manager carrying the store and upper management believes the store will fail or sales will fall short on managers day off.

Unorganized Chaos...

Business Outlook

Pros

1. At the store level, the company hires from within for managerial positions. 2. I've met a lot of good people at the company. 3. Good pay for a retail job.

Cons

It can be really stressful, and the communication is terrible. If you ask three different people the same question about "how something is done" expect three different answers. No one seems to feel obligated to do their job the right way. Everything is just so unorganized! Also, if you are considering this industry start to develop "thick skin." Finally, forget about attending your kids sporting events and etc. Trust me, you will be at work.

Pros

Higher than average compensation for retail, good camaraderie with co workers. Nice working for large company that you know will be there tomorrow. Promotions from within.

Cons

Work/Life balance is non existent...expect to work every weekend and holiday. Working within the auto repair industry can be very high stress.
