Pros

The benefits are the best I've seen in the industry, and there's a ok opportunity for techs to make money. It pays the bills if you meet their standards, which for techs means certifications and experience just to apply.

Cons

We were expected to stay sometimes 2 hours after the posted closing time if it means store profit. This became frustrating since I like having dinner with my family before 8 or 9p.m. Also the managers can sometimes imply that you may be replaced just because circumstances might yield less than ideal results. If there is work to be done don't expect to be permitted a well deserved time to eat lunch; or if you clock out for your 30 minutes it's not uncommon to be expected to begin work before your 30 is up. Turnover rates are through the roof. Moral in the shop is very low. Expected to work 48-50+ hours per week.

Pros

Car repairs are needed in any economy, insurance package is decent, enjoy working with most co-workers, starting pay is decent for a career change.

Cons

Hours are long, weekends mandatory. Company promotes training but it doesn't happen at store level. Company does not support or back employees even if the customer was wrong or abusive towards the employee. Constant threats from DM over the fax and email about sales numbers. Threatened to sell CFNA credit card, vehichle inspections and other repairs no matter the situation. Understaffed sales associates and technicians that only get paid by the job so there is constant turnover but they expect top sales every day. Yesterday does not matter, what can you do for me today?

Pros

You don't really need to think very often. The work is mostly simple, oil changes and tires. The benefits were okay, normal for any larger business. The other employees were great to work with, most of them anyway.

Cons

Well, it was a scam. As a technician you get paid flat-rate, and it's off the Mitchell book so it's normally around the All-Data warranty time. There is only one computer terminal in the shop, so if you need to see repair instructions or torque specifications making book time is already out. Additionally there are no parts staff. Here's where the scam comes in, there are supposed to be parts staff. I finally went to the 'New Hire Training' class, and was informed that I should not have been stocking shelves, looking up & pulling parts, pulling tires for wholesale customers, etc. I was also refused reimbursement for using my car for company business.
