Pros

I have worked for the owners for the last 3 years, June 2012 the owners created an in-house management company; First Pointe. It has been awesome basically being able to kick out the middle man. Since the change the management offers great training; they really go above and beyond in investing in their all of their employees. You can feel that they really do care. The owners/management has many properties providing lots of room for advancement. There are tons of incentives including free health care benefits, 401K and Life Insurance. They love giving recognition to all of their employees. They have recently had their first conference and it was awesome. All employees including all management staff and maintenance staff where there keeping everyone on the same page. They really take care of you here, and if you strive for a higher position they will not weight you down.

Cons

I can not think of anything at the moment... ;-/

Love my job, hate corporate micro-management.

Pros

Helping tenants enjoy their community

Cons

Corporate office is so controlling we can't work efficiently. They do not trust us to do our job, resulting in poor customer service and loss of revenue. Morale is at all time low and the company is loosing great employees.

Pros

They offer free medical benefits to all full-time employees. They are constantly hiring for on-site positions, because employee retention is horrible and nobody can stand working there for long. (I guess that's not a pro for the company, but that's about all the pros I can think of.)

Cons

This company takes "Micro-Managing" to a whole different level. Employees are over-tasked with mindless reports and multi-step processes that allow the corporate people to watch over every little move you make. Instead of being efficient with your time, you find yourself inundated with pointless tasks that take away from you being able to focus on what's important: leasing new apartments and taking care of your current residents. For example, tasks that take up a small period of time with other companies (deposit refunds, file audits, delinquency reports, fixing errors in the system or paperwork, etc...) will take you 10 times as long, because First Pointe requires a ridiculous process so that the corporate office can micro-manage every single step from Southern California. While I understand that this eliminates the possibility of a manager waiving late fees or giving unapproved concessions, it also means that you can't even correct any errors that inevitably happen from time-to-time. What takes .5 seconds to fix with other companies, now requires you to create a Help Ticket, describe the error and how it happened, and email over documentation as to what needs to be corrected to. Oh yeah, and don't forget that now you have to wait for someone to take the time to respond to your ticket and than resolve the issue. The parent company, Ezralow, has been in property management for many years, but decided to create First Pointe after being unhappy with their previous 3rd party management company. While this isn't all that uncommon in this industry, First Pointe has been in business for almost a year and half, and still hasn't bothered to create a Company Policy for their employees. Upper Management is constantly changing "policy" but it's impossible to keep track of what the current policy is, and with the endless micro-managing, it makes your job even more confusing, tiresome, and frustrating. The owners (yes, the actual owners themselves) are so "hands-on" that every single little change or problem is addressed with them, and then bounced around among the Regionals, Asset Managers and anyone else who has an opinion. In essence, no one can agree on anything, and nothing ever gets resolved. The reason I left First Pointe is because I saw absolutely no room for growth. I've been in Property Management for many years and had many different experiences that have given me a lot of wisdom and knowledge in this industry. Upper Management at First Pointe never once wanted my opinion or suggestions, and I finally realized that I was simply wasting my time. I moved onto another company that quickly promoted me because they realized my experience and knowledge is valuable, and I am happier than I've ever been. Employee turnover is a common occurrence for First Pointe, and they have lost countless employees in the past year because of it. Unless you somehow gain the favor of Corporate or Upper Management, your hard work and dedication will never be acknowledged, appreciated, or rewarded.
