Pros

Depending on the job, you can work around some great people who make the days survivable.

Cons

Success at this company, especially in the advanced research division, is heavily dependent upon how well or how badly your boss shields you from upper management's toxicity. There is an intense culture of favoritism and scape-goating. Even the most promising, interesting projects are often very unfocused, and can be picked up and dropped with dizzying frequency. There is immense pressure to work longer than a typical 40-hour week (this is tacitly endorsed by HR). Even the most toxic managers (multiple complaints, revolving door of direct reports) are not removed. The offices are dreary with rows of beige cubicles. There are multiple buildings spread out, and have to be trudged between multiple times a day even in the dead of winter.

Pros

There aren't many pros to working here. I've been here for just over a month. I used to like my job and I like most of the people I work with but the few bad eggs have really ruined it for me.

Cons

I was accused of something I was not guilty of by a fellow coworker that was previously fired before. I was then threatened and then assaulted both verbally and physically. When I reported this to my supervisor (immediately after it happened) I was instructed not to contact the police. I did anyway. An investigation through HR was conducted (if you'd call it that. They didn't even give me an opportunity to sit down with them to tell them the whole story and they never returned my calls or emails.) The perpetrators lied in their statements so management sided with them despite proof (body camera footage of the perpetrator's admitting to the police officer that responded to the scene that they put their hands on me.) And I was given a verbal warning/coaching session for inappropriate behavior/conduct in the workplace. What a crock! If that isn' bad enough, rather than separating me from the guilty parties, I am scheduled to work with them regularly throughout my shift. Very seriously considering contacting an attorney to see what my options are.
