Pros

Competitive starting pay. Decent benefits. OK time-off plan

Cons

Terrible annual raises - lucky to get 1.5% as a performer. Horrible promotion opportunities. They care about shareholders and that's it. Employees are literally just a number regardless of performance or loyalty. Company touts values, but they don't follow them - ever. If you want a good opportunity for growth and recognition, don't apply at Fiserv.

Management in decline

Pros

none under the new management

Cons

First Data management is unbelievably awful. Once Yabuki leaves and Bisagno is on his own, you will no longer see the kind of return on investment that the stock did with Yabuki. The new guy has never delivered that kind of performance anywhere he has been. This week they committed 10 million to minority owned business as well as other social program money commitments all the while laying off employees. They stopped 401k, stock discounts and have destroyed the work culture of what was once a very strong company. Just listen to the last earnings call with both Jeff and Frank. Its like a college person and a grade school person. Hope Frank Bisagno is better than what he has shown so far. Really insulting to lay people off and pledge millions to causes. Very bad optics!!

Pros

Fiserv has been a great company to work for over the years and has attracted and retained talented people who are committed to excellence in every interaction with clients, products and service. Fiserv goes through all the right motions to give the appearance of caring about their associates. Fiserv even sends an annual “Your Voice Survey” to get employee feedback back. They will pick and chose a few easy to implement suggestions, beat their chest and ignore any suggestions of substance.

Cons

Revolving door of good, knowledgeable, tenured employees that know the business, industry and clients. Generally, Fiserv does not hire leadership from within. There seem to be several key companies from which we source our leadership; once someone gets their foot in the door, they bring all their good old boy buddies. Fiserv does hire some of the best and the brightest senior leaders with amazing resumes who are looking for a short term stint and rich payout at the end. Yet, everyone from mid-management down continue to see the erosion of benefits, culture, productivity, client commitment and compensation. Some recent examples are: 1) moving a significant number of development and client facing customer service positions oversees which has resulted in wholesale layoff of teams, 2) divesting of certain products and services resulting in a forced march of clients to other products - oftentimes a competitor, 3) the recent focus on “Financial Wellbeing for Associates” has resulted in reducing the discount of the ESPP from 15% to 10%, 4) disqualifying groups of employees from performance and stock grant plans, 5) hiring new associates for your same role at a higher rate but being unwilling to adjust the existing employee’s pay scale who trains the new employee. Anytime we receive a corporate communication which claims to be of benefit to the employees that states, “competitive and sustainable”, employee beware! Constant retooling of compensation plans. Making them so unnecessarily complicated and unattainable. Each year is a new experiment at the expense of the pocketbook of the employees.
