Not bad, not good.

Pros

Decent pay for the actual work put in (many times you're getting paid $20/hr to mop or exchange parts). Ability to learn some skills/gain some knowledge in a variety of fields: pilot operations and procedures, aviation mechanics, software programming, networking, troubleshooting, reading technical schematics.

Cons

Job satisfaction is 100% determined by managment styles: laissez faire, and you'll be left without guidance and direction; but if you're lucky, and they're nice, it could be just OK. No commendment given for achievements or going "above-and-beyond". Have to fight hard for even a measly raise. Unprofessionalism (in both quality of work and quality of people) tends to be rampant and work is usually shoddy. Job is exceedingly boring when operations are fine and nothing is broken. Can hit a knowledge ceiling since most information about systems are restricted to the engineering department.

Huge initial learning curve. Some days have too much down time. Difficult hours.
