Pros

Close to my home and it's a Job.

Cons

On your feet all day. Antiquated equipment. dirty store and area. Lunch is never suggested. Lucky if you get a break, most management is outside smoking. Disciplined for taking a drink at the register, however, all management walks around eating and drinking. Security guy hangs all night flitering with all the women. Fort Knox could walk out and he would not notice. Absolutely no advancement our raise.

Pros

Management recognized my personal ability and skill, helpful when I had a family emergency. Some associates were well-trained and willing to work. HR had training programs for associates and management to participate in.

Cons

Pay is very poor. Benefits, such as vacation or holiday pay, for part-time management are non existent. District management and other corporate visits were a nightmare. Corporate officials did not want any feedback from store employees: they were only there to criticize.

Pros

They were so flexible about my school hours. That is the thing I love most about Food Lion. It's a clean place to work. The employees are usually kind. Interesting interactions with customers. Vacation days/hours.

Cons

There can be some really rude customers. I receive no information on changes that are made. I have no idea what's going on most of the time and then I'll get in trouble when I do something wrong, when I was never told in the beginning. There is no communication. The pay is horrible. I work here for 2 years I was promoted to front end supervisor and I make 5 cents over minimum wage! We are expected to greet customers even when we are with a customer on register (I feel like this is so rude). We need to ask customers going through our line if they want to buy all these items. This is not only annoying for me, but it's annoying for the customer and it's very time consuming. Customers just want to get out of the line, if they wanted to buy snack cakes then they'd buy them, we don't need to ask them. Way too much is expected out of us for only making minimum wage.
