Pros

- Many good people, including line managers and Sr. Directors - Durable product line with great rep in the market - Decent work hours/OK benefits and compensation

Cons

- Very closed culture, little or no visibility into where the business is heading or upper management thinking - Quiet and dark cube environment, not very welcoming - CEO/Former President seemed disinterested with employees

Pros

Free bagales on Friday and nice train view from parking lot.

Cons

After Vista purchase, company has become haunted house here in San Diego. It is really a challenge to find people in the office. If you count the ratio of people vs empty cubes, you will be surprised and it also shows that how this company was great once upon a time and everyone either left or company got downsized. Starting from Vista take over till end of 2014, new owner Vista made sure, transition happened as painful as possible. I mean come on, we got to know more update from local news than management about possible next plans including headquarter transfer to Austin. How in the world, a management can be so irresponsible. To stop the bleeding and to stop people from jumping ship, Vista declared the retention bonus, hoping some important don't leave, but they forgot that you cannot held people for money long time. CTO who sent out email to everyone that if you remain with company till end of 2014, you will get retention bonus and guess what he himself jumped the ship. Can you believe this ? To save money, they sent all the software development to China and US offices has become just support centers. If you want to write code, then this is not a place for you. If you are applying for Software Engineer or IT position, make sure you talk to HR and hiring manager about your position and duties, because chances are they have advertised fake job description stating they are doing development here in US, but it is not true. If you are a social person and like to work in friendly environment, then this is not a place for you. There is nothing friendly remained after Vista takeover. Everyone is in race to save their position and playing politics at its best. There is very less hope that San Diego location will remain very long, they may transfer everyone to Austin very soon.

Pros

The number one thing that lead me to accepting my job offer with Websense was the promise of being able to grow your career here. Knowing that this wasn't just an empty promise (as I've already recieved one promotion in my year of working here) confirms that I made the best decision. Another huge thing is that managers are here to help you grow your career. They provide appropriate feedback, both positive and negative, that will help you take your career to the next step. The managers are definitely here to help you make sure you're taking the right steps with clients and helping you meet quota. Coming onto the sales team also entailed a full three month training course that went over not just sales traning and tactis, but also full understanding of the solutions and best practices to help you succeed once you hit the floor. The people that work here are typically fairly young and easy to get along with; co-workers can easiy become friends here. Obviously, another huge plus is the pay. The base salary is comparable to other sales jobs and the commission structure makes it possible to actually get paid your full commission plus some extra.

Cons

As with any sales job, end of the month/quarter tends to get stressful (especially if you haven't met quota).
